Site 138 - KAYAK STARVED ROCK CAMPGROUND
Beautiful site, full of poison ivy
Reserved site 138, somehow reservation did not work so I had to choose another site when I arrived (not cool). I asked which spot was private and was recommended site 118. Drove by, it looks good, so grabbed it. Only after I had unpacked the gear and was setting up my tent did I notice that there was poison ivy growing...well everywhere. Its pretty sparse in the actual place you put your tent, but it was definitely growing in the site, as well as 10 feet up onto trees and in the shrubbery around the site. Having a crazy 6 year old with me, this was fairly stressful to keep him away from the foliage. Aside from the reservation and poison ivy, we had a wonderful time. The campground host was nice and helpful. Beautiful view of the river and 5 minute drive from Starved Rock park.

Site 142 - KAYAK STARVED ROCK CAMPGROUND
We had a great time at our site. It seemed to be one of the better sites, in our opinion. It is a little squished together with other sites, but very roomy for where you can place a tent. Other sites were better for hammocks, but our view was first rate. Some of our neighbors played music out of a speaker the first night (rap, then thankfully more pop rock) which we did not appreciate. Beautiful sunset and sunrise!!!

Site 24 - KAYAK STARVED ROCK CAMPGROUND
Starve Rock Labor Day Weekend
There was a problem with are registration and did not get the site we were supposed to get but the site we got was fine. The campground it self was nice with everyone being respectful of noise. It was Labor Day weekend but 3/4 of the Port a Johns did not have toilet paper. But all and all it was a nice experience.

Super helpful staff when we got caught without a campsite at the end of the day! Beautiful grounds, wonderful amenities. Seriously, the nicest porta-potties we’ve ever seen!
