More about us...
Boskenwyn Manor was set up on my family farm by my Uncle to appeal to those who are looking for a easy camping break away in whatever they choose to enjoy the county we are passionate about. The site is unique for its ‘traditional’ camping experience by providing the basic needs such as water, space and grey waste facility, leaving the individual to bring with them what they choose.
In 2019, I took over the campsite and decided to run it privately without being under any club or membership, so that the site can be open for all. I want people from all around to come and see what beautiful Cornwall can offer them. Each county in the UK, they all have there own special differences whether its landscape, food, architecture, attractions, traditions and much more. Cornwall is no different and the beauty of it is you don’t have to get on a plane or ferry to get there when you can bring your own home on wheels or via tent.
From August 2020, I took on the mighty challenge of designing and building my own toilet and shower facility specific to our site. I wanted to incorporate a traditional exterior while keeping a modern contemporary interior. After many hours and long evenings during the winter and the COVID-19 lockdowns, we finally sited and opened our new facility in May 2021, an achievement I am so proud to share with you all.
Having grown up on the farm since 2003, Cornish born and bred, I hope to share with you the stunning place I had the privilege to grow up in. I hope that throughout your stay you relax from the worries of routine life and let Cornwall give you that welcome break.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me questions when you arrive as I am happy to help. I look forward to meeting you here at Boskenwyn Manor.
Boskenwyn Manor, England
A six-pitch campsite in Cornish countryside at the top of the Lizard Peninsula near Helston and Porthleven
“They’re the best pasties in Cornwall — everyone says so,” reveals Bridget. She’s talking about Gear Farm pasties, made a few miles from the campsite she runs with her son at the top of the Lizard Peninsula. When you book a stay at Boskenwyn Manor, their six-pitch site on the family farm, you get more than a place to put up your tent. Yes, you get a spacious patch of grass, and access to immaculate facilities, but you also get a little taste of the Cornwall they know and love.
The tiny hamlet of Boskenwyn, where the campsite is based, is home to a rural school, a handful of bungalows and a scattering of farms. This is real Cornish countryside. Beyond that, there’s nothing to draw the crowds so you won’t find them here. Peace and quiet is part of the appeal but there’s also the fact that so much of what makes Cornwall, Cornwal

The tiny hamlet of Boskenwyn, where the campsite is based, is home to a rural school, a handful of bungalows and a scattering of farms. This is real Cornish countryside. Beyond that, there’s nothing to draw the crowds so you won’t find them here. Peace and quiet is part of the appeal but there’s also the fact that so much of what makes Cornwall, Cornwall is not far away. And if you need tips on where to find it, you’ll find it on the site’s noticeboard — or by picking Bridget or Tom’s brains when they make their daily rounds.
Tom is Bridget’s son, he’s the fourth generation on a 110-acre family farm, a small meadow of which is given over to campers from April to October. For 10 years until cabinet-maker Tom took it over, this place was a wild camping spot with just a tap by way of facilities. Now, he’s put his skills to good use and made a shepherd’s hut facilities block that’s kept sparkling clean by his mum. In essence, it’s a simple off-grid farm site in a field that’s just off a country road but the care and attention they’ve given it makes it what it is. That, and the view across miles of fields to the distant Goonhilly Downs.
From your pitch, it’s a two-mile walk across fields to the village of Gweek where you’ll find the closest shop, a good pub, a great cafe with a setting on the Helford River and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. If theme parks float your boat, the thrills and spills at Flambard’s are not far away either but the things that make Cornwall, Cornwall are beaches like Gunwalloe Cove and fishing ports like Porthleven, both just a few miles away. It’s pasties like they make at Gear Farm, Cornish ice cream like the ones they make at Gwella Dairy, campsites like Boskenwyn Manor and people like Bridget and Tom.
