Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Comfortable eco-friendly glamping in Devon, with bell tents and a lakeside cabin.

Bellbrook Meadow is a secluded and sustainable glamping site quietly tucked away in Tiverton, hosting well-equipped bell tents and a lakeside cabin. Bellbrook's goal is to provide guests with ample 'Green Time', letting you shut off completely from your emails and Zoom meetings but still giving you access to amenities you don't often get in other eco-friendly campsites. And it works. Reconnecting with nature has rarely been so comfortable.

The bell tents at Bellbrook Meadow are equipped with proper beds, coir matting, and rugs, along with a wood burner for those chillier evenings. Alongside them are hand-built cabins—constructed with locally-sourced larch—housing a bathroom and well-equipped kitchen (the former with a hot shower and flushing toilet, the latter with a fridge, hob, and a bunch of biodegradable essentials). And, if you don't fancy living under canvas there's always The Lake House; a lakeside cabin, sleeping up to six with everything under one roof.

It's the little things that make a Hipcamping trip special, and Bellbrook features a number of special touches. A welcome basket boasts local Devon produce, while organic and fair trade tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are complimentary, plus the kids are given bug hunting kits to explore the region from a different perspective (usually on their hands and knees in the mud!). A few maps point out the best places for panoramic views, along with walking routes through the woodlands that start directly from your tent. For a good daytrip, meanwhile, Devon's top beaches, including Instow and Minehead, are around a 45-minute drive.

Bellbrook Meadow has been set up with the aim of encouraging guests to spend more outside, indulging in the restorative power of Green Time! There are beautiful views and the most amazing sky as well as an abundance of wildlife. It is an exclusive site in a quiet & rural location. It is not suited to parties or groups of adults. Whilst there's a great deal of nature & space around we don't have any cafés or shops in the area, the nearest are in Bampton (5 miles). We love it but it's not everyone's cup of tea. However it's perfect for those who truly want to get away from it all and enjoy the great outdoors. We have provided guests with activities and ideas of things to do in the meadow which includes a communal mud kitchen and bug hunting kits for the kids. There's also lots of quaint Devon attractions to explore within 30 minutes drive from museums to canal barge trips and pony treks across Exmoor and as we are only 2 miles from the North Devon Link Road beautiful beaches are easy to reach as a day trip. For our foodie guests there are also several very good gastropubs within 15 minutes drive and some great farmers markets locally. Bellbrook Meadow is a sustainable and ethical holiday destination. The hand built pods are made from local larch, the furnishings are sustainably sourced and the power comes from renewable sources and there are recycling facilities on site. All our cleaning products and toiletries are environmentally friendly and refilled so there's no single use plastic. Our boutique Glamping experience combines nature and comfort. The tent is pitched on a wooden base and has full coir matting as well as rugs. Each tent has the luxury of its own private and beautiful bathroom and kitchen pod which is just a few metres away. The bathroom has full sized shower, sink and WC. The bijou kitchen area is well equipped and has a phone charging point, a full sized fridge, a 2 ring gas hob, and hot and running cold water (from our own spring so perfect for drinking). It is enclosed on two sides and has a roof so cooking in the great British weather won't be a chore! Each tent has it's own character and layout but they all sleep 4, are lovingly furnished and have storage (bedside tables or chest of drawers or reclaimed ottomans) and a toy box. Each tent also has a small table and two chairs. All the tents also have a wood burner, fire pit, BBQ and reclaimed outdoor furniture. We provide a complimentary basket of local wood. Additional wood and local, sustainable charcoal can be purchased onsite or ordered before arrival at £5 a bag. As we are a sustainable site we strongly discourage the use of disposable bbqs and bottled water (our water is delicious and rigorously tested). We also ask that you use our biodegradable toiletries if at all possible. This small site is home to just a handful of campers at a time and to keep that sense of space and privacy we have set each 6m tent approximately 25m apart. There is no vehicular access to the field but there is parking for one car per tent in the car park. Campion is the nearest tent and is approximately 25m from the parking area. We provide wheel barrows for transporting luggage. Guest access is restricted solely to the Glamping Meadow, which is several acres. The adjoining fields and farm are private and this is clearly marked by green signs. We provide an OS map so you can enjoy the local walks. We provide towels, bedding, tea towels, cloths, washing up liquid, fair trade tea, coffer, hot chocolate & sugar as well as Faith In Nature toiletries. We suggest you bring wellies and torches. As there is no electricity in the tent it is lit by a rechargeable lantern which can be charged in your kitchen.
Food and drink

The Stag Inn (01884 881755) is three miles away, rumored to be the oldest pub in Devon with a history dating back to the 12th century. Enjoy a cosy open fire, a well-stocked bar with three locally-sourced changing ales, and fresh food including the house specialty, beer bread. Wild Woods Tapas Bar (07858 140563) is less than a 15-minute drive away and reopening in spring, brimming with rustic charm in its remote farm setting, with tasty tapas dishes to try out. The Masons Arm (01398341231) in Knowstone is a 10-minute drive, an award-winning restaurant with a traditional bar area serving real ale and champagne by the glass, along with a robust wine list.

Nearby attractions

Bellbrook Meadow also runs the Bellbrook Valley Trout Fishery (07967 335159) and guests can purchase a pass to enjoy a spot of fishing across its five lakes, with it having been voted one of the top 30 UK fisheries by Trout Fisherman magazine. The National Trust's Knightshayes is a 20-minute drive away, a 19th-century manor house surrounded by over 250 acres of Parkland. Visit its gardens, with unique topiary and intimate trails through its picturesque surroundings. The market town of Bampton is a 15-minute drive, which you might recognise as one of the filming locations for Downton Abbey, with the West Ox Arts Gallery (01993 850137) available to peruse along with pubs and restaurants.
