Lean To with Spacious Site

We are located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, close to the Village of Rhinebeck and the Hudson River. There are many things to do within a half an hour of the campsite. Learn more about this land: A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Plenty of privacy. Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Rainy days no problem explore one of our nations pieces of history, Vanderbilt mansion, Theodore Roosevelt home, Montgomery Place Mansion, Poets walk, Ferncliff forest, or Art Omi. It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

There are many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive. A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. We are just six minutes away from the Tenmile River Metro North station and can pick you up with advance coordination. Your camping area is located in the picturesque Foothills of Litchfield county among the private homes of the rich and famous. The immediate site is situated on a gently sloping meadow with areas that are nearly level. There are southeast facing views of some of the most beautiful terrain in the U.S. This is the destination spot for fall foliage in Ct. Also, most mornings there is some type of wildlife wondering through the fields. The closest attraction to the property is Lime Rock auto racing track and its less than .25 miles away. You can access the track directly via a field, so any race fans staying here can drive a golf cart to and from the events. Golf cart rental is available for major race events. Important: Please understand that there is an automotive race track right next door, so there will be some noise from Mon to Sat. All racing is finished be 6:00 pm sometimes sooner. There is NO RACING on Sundays so its peaceful, however there still may some traffic. Each event varies in noise level ranging from barely noticeable to pretty loud. There are 3-4 major race event that typically take place on Memorial day, 4th of July and Labor day, but not limited to those days. These events are pretty loud and there is a lot of traffic. If your looking for adventure, you have found your destination. There is access to private dirt bike, mountain bike and hiking trails, GPS tracking app strongly recommended and Please ask first before hiking so advise about wildlife can be given. The trails connect to the Appalachian trail that has a view made for paintings. Also locally, there is canoeing/kayaking, swimming, power boating, boat rental, E=bike rental, fly fishing, down hill and cross country skiing. More on our dirt bike trails: This is a GUIDED tour, Fees apply, using your own bike. You must have proper a helmet and hard MX style riding boots. The trails range for open field to hard enduro style hell. The more safety gear and skills you have, the more technical the ride can be. If your bike has a legal street plate we can ride up to 30 miles of trails. No loud pipes. The local dining cuisine is some of the best in the county. In addition, there Mexican, Chinese, and many pizza options, one even offers delivery in this rural area. There are also many hidden local farm stands selling fresh vegetables and meat. If your are in need of supplies It's only a 5 min trip into town for hardware/lumber, laundry, and grocery stores. Need small repairs on your camper or RV? The Upper Shire Private Campsites in the Hudson Valley are on a gorgeous hill with a small pond surrounded by 22 acres of an old horse ranch. Located in Columbia County near the border of Massachusetts and New York. There are currently 5 unique camping areas located here. Each one is special due to its location on the hill. Check out our map and enjoy our spacious yet secluded campsites. This place comes with a relaxed atmosphere and is located near Catamount Ski Resort, Bash Bish Falls, Taconic State Park, Hudson NY, and Great Barrington, MA. If you plan on bringing a pet please be sure to add that fee to your booking under "extras" ($25) If you have additional guest(s) that would like to join you that fee is ($25 a night per person) and you will need to message us about how to arrange that. We have extra easy pop-up two person tents are available to rent ($15 for two nights) you can also find that option under "extras" along with bundles of firewood ($15)

Our land is 18 acres of a wooded hill, surrounded by hundreds more acres of trust-preserved land. A brook glitters from across the street, visible from most spots on the hill. The preserve land can be hiked, though there are not always paths. Macedonia and Kent Falls state parks are nearby by car, as well as an entrance to the Appalachian Trail just five minutes down the road. We are just six minutes away from the Tenmile River Metro North station and can pick you up with advance coordination. The town of Kent, Connecticut is a 7-minute drive and has lots of shops, dining, and an art gallery. The town of Amenia, New York is a 12-minute drive and has a drive-in movie theater, and some restaurants. Historic Downtown Wassaic is a 7-minute drive and is home to the Wassaic Project art gallery.

The treehouse was built 15 years ago as a sleepout to watch the stars. It's a pretty quiet Lake up in the mountains of the Berkshires and sits at 1200feet so the nights get a little crisp which makes for a great night's sleep.

Also with under 1 minute walk to your car. 3 - The RiverView: Nestled on a ridge some 80 feet above the river's edge, this campsite provides a tranquil escape with the soothing sounds of flowing water. It's our most adventurous site to get to with a good 10 to 15 minute "medium-difficulty" trek to get... A beautiful trek, not a leisurely stroll (Hint: pack light) but well worth the effort!
