Wild Blue Water Ranch

4 sites · RVs, Tents7 acres · Pahoa, HI
We've got whales!! They've been breaching and playing typically within 150 meters from the property. Mauna Kea snows on and off during this season and you can see that from the property too! Immerse yourself in nature while soaking in the hot tub. Discover the night sky and its abundance of stars. Smell the fragrance of tropical flowers, savor the fresh fruit, feel the crashing waves and overhear the whales playing amidst them. Appreciate the freedom of the turtles and fish swimming. Listen to the wild birds singing. The calming nature of this location will evaporate your worries. Lay poolside, roam the property, and explore the Island. This is a great launching point to enjoy the treasures that the Big Island has waiting for you. Some places provide more privacy than others, but all are equipped with fire rings. There is a common bathroom and an indoor and outdoor shower with hot water. **All water used on location is derived from an on site well which is refreshed daily, plenteously, from the cool mountains above as the water makes its attempt to return to the sea.

Papa’s Hawaiian Orchid Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Pahoa, HI
We are a commercial orchid farm starting the homestead 8 years ago. Lava caused us to evacuate 2 years ago before it stopped a mile above the farm and Malama Market. We have a lava tube on the property you can explore. It’s so tall in some places, you can drive a school bus through. Good to bring headlamps if you're interested in this and just for walking around the farm when there is no moon! We are currently constructing a wood fired pizza oven in the place where our picnic tables and eating area are located.Pitch your tent or stay in one of our rooms or junglelows in the middle of our orchid nursery. We have outdoor kitchen, hot showers and flushing toilets. Located in the heart of Puna in the country but only 10 min walk to the village of Pahoa. This area has a lot to offer including tide pools, black sand beaches, warm spring and sauna caves.

Hakalau Springs Campground

3 sites · Tents11 acres · Honomu, HI
Come enjoy the magic of your own private waterfall while camping under the stars at Hakalau Springs Campground. Hakalau is located on the North-East side of the Big Island along the breathtaking Hamakua Coast. Surrounded by waterfalls and lush, green tropical flora, Hakalau is a hidden gem. It’s the perfect jumping off point for all things east side. Hilo town is 30 minutes south and Waipio Valley Lookout is 45 minutes North. The world-famous Akaka Falls is one neighborhood over in the quaint town of Honomu which hosts some wonderful gift shops, 2 restaurants, and a coffee house. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a little over an hour drive and the Maunakea Visitors Center is an hour and 15 minutes. Other sites and adventures include Umauma Zip lining and Botanical World Adventures (5 miles away), Onomea Bay scenic drive and Hawaii Tropical Botanic Garden (8 miles away), the historic town of Honokaa (45 mins), and the beautiful cowboy town of Waimea (1 hour). Hakalau Springs Campground sits on 11 acres with two springs bordering the property with a variety of fruit trees and farm animals to interact with. We offer basic campsites with picnic tables, drinking water, a fire pit, a composting toilet, and a pop-up tent in case it rains. You will be camping on soft grass amongst giant Ironwood and eucalyptus trees while listening to the soft sounds of the creek below. Take a swim in the spring-fed waterfall swimming hole and relax by the fire pit at night. We also offer our beautiful 2 room tent fully furnished with a queen-sized air mattress, cozy bedding, lantern, and camping lounge chairs. Cooler upon request, you provide the ice. We’re blessed to be located on the rainy side of the island because of all the abundance and greenery the rain brings. That being said, please be prepared for the weather. It can rain hard at times so having a good rain jacket is a great idea. On the other hand, people say that a sunny day on the east side of the big island is the best place to be in all of Hawaii. Come stay at Hakalau Springs Campground and discover “off the beaten path” Hawaii.

Magical Garden and Grove

1 site · RV, Tent9 acres · Pahoa, HI
Wild and organic. That is the best way to describe our gardens. Our hanai mom started caring for this land over forty years ago. Her passion for flowers, fruits and organic, simple living can still be seen even in our attempts to gain some control. The land is in my sisters and my care now and we hope to honor her, keeping everything organic. Fighting back the invasive plants and continuing to plant more flowers, fruits and vegetables. We want to bring back some animals and create an environment that would bring her joy. We are so blessed to see René in all the beauty she gifted us with. Our tropical rainforest, with forty years of love, beautiful organic gardens, tangerines, avocados, kukui, rhododendron, anthurium, hibiscus, and so much more to wander and enjoy. Rene would tell us how the railroad ended at the grove. We have found evidence. When the sky is clear at night you can see the milky way. This is my favorite place. I hope you enjoy. There are things to be aware of, it's camping outdoors. There are bugs. Mosquitos, centipedes, fire ants. And there are pigs. Diatomaceous earth is great to put down before making camp. It's natural and detours bugs of all kinds. With the pigs, be louder and bigger than them and don't get between babies and parents.

Our retreat property is in a walkable neighborhood with 3 yoga studios nearby one mile to the ocean, 1.5 miles to the best beach on Big Island, and a short drive to many tide pools and a volcanic hot spring on the beach. Our center is part of HIVE Hawaii (you can research us online) where we host co-living, co-working, and co-healing programs, and encourage folks to join us who resonate with our vision for Healing Inspiring Village Experiences (HIVE). Many of our residents are part of the ecstatic dance community, offer some kind of healing and/or arts practice, or are digital nomads--including a mix of short-term visitors and long-term residents. The number of residents varies from 3-20 depending on the day (averaging around 7 adults sharing the community kitchen) As a guest, you will share our comfy retreat house with other residents to access a full kitchen, bathrooms, wifi and lounges. Our property is small, but has coconut, avocado, guava, and a rainbow eucalyptus tree and a small garden with herbs and veggies you're welcome to share. We encourage healthy eco-conscious products and often share delicious meals with one another in a spontaneous way in the shared kitchen. We offer the opportunity to plug in with community right away and to be in a supportive space that encourages healing and creativity. Join us!
