Tips for snagging a campsite

As a well-trafficked part of Scotland, sites can be booked up, especially in July and August. Make your reservations as soon as you know your dates.
Campers typically arrive in the late afternoon or evening. Get the best pick of pitches by arriving earlier.

When to go

For long daylight hours; your best chances of getting some sunny days, and for enjoying outdoor activities, May through September is the best period to visit. To avoid crowds, aim to visit outside of the peak months of July and August. Outside of spring and summer, you will have fewer campsite options, as most are open seasonally, and may experience disruption to your travel plans (especially ferries) due to inclement weather.
