Beautiful experience! My 3 year old daughter and I loved it. Such a tranquil location. Rachel was super helpful and gave some great recommendations. The caravan was idyllic. Will be recommending to anyone wanting a good base to explore the New Forest.

2 nights at Fernwood Glamping (New Forest)
We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful stay in the Gypsy Caravan at Fernwood Glamping. Peacefully shaded by surrounding trees, we felt really at home and relaxed with Rachel, our host, making us feel really comfortable and well settled in. We also had the option to use the neighbouring summerhouse which has great to watch the sunset over the decking and pond area. Thank you!

This was a lovely caravan. Really comfy for my kids (4&7) and me and my wife both <5ft6. Those around the 6ft mark might find the bed a little restrictive.
The caravan came with lots of necessary stuff pots pans cooker, gas etc (as advertised).
This is also a lovely pitch and the view over the hills was great. Of additional note were the hens which came visiting in the morning- a great hit with the kids.
We would come again.
Of note.. If your car is lowered you may have issues entering the site as it is up a very steep potholed track.

We camped in a green gypsy caravan. Slept so soundly during our stay in our cosy home. My son found friends to play with and animals to pet. We went swimming in the crystal clear river and enjoyed visiting local attractions from this base. The site is extremely chilled out with its quirky loos and showers. Overall a fab time was had by both of us!

Notable campgrounds
- Best for peace and quiet: Back of Beyond has grass pitches, hard-standing, glamping options, and wild camping in the woods. It’s adults-only, plus there’s a dog park and lake.
- Best for a family camping holiday: Red Shoot Camping Park is less than a 20-minute drive, within the New Forest National Park, and has self-catering huts, kids’ play areas, and a family pub right next door.
- Best for riverside camping: Woolsbridge Manor Farm has spacious tent and caravan pitches, all within walking distance of the park.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Campsites and caravan sites near Moor Valley can book up quickly, especially in July and August, and during school holidays. Early bookings are essential—up six months in advance for the most popular sites.
- You will need to pay a deposit to secure your campsite reservation; some sites ask for the full payment prior to arrival.
- Be sure to check seasonal opening and closing dates, which vary by campsite. Many campsites open from March through October only.
When to go
Summer is peak season, but Moors Valley fills up with families on weekends and school holidays throughout the year. Make an early start if visiting at these times and book activities in advance to avoid disappointment. Walking and cycling are possible year-round, but other activities depend on the season. The steam railway runs from May through early September, while fishing on the lake is permitted from June through March.
