Learn more about this land: We call our rental cottage "Heartland" because it was created as a quiet, cozy place for rest and refuge. Heartland is surrounded by lovely natural beauty in our charming historic neighborhood near the water. From Heartland you can walk to the Guilford Marina where you can gaze at boats in the harbor and eat at a variety of restaurants with outdoor seating and views of the water. Fresh lobsters and a variety of fish and shellfish are daily pulled in by the fishing fleet at the Guilford Marina. You can walk to Chittenden Park's “hidden beach” which is perfect for sunset walks and taking in the beauty of the CT shoreline at any time of day. Most of the time you will have this beach to yourself as it is a little known gem on the CT shoreline. You can walk or take a short drive to Jacob's Beach, Guilford's town beach, for swimming and kayaking. You can also walk or drive to the historic village of Guilford where you can explore the charming town green surrounded by cafes, restaurants, shopping, and architecture dating from the 1700's. Guilford has many beautiful hiking trails to explore. We are located near the Guilford Train Station with daily trains running to and from New York City, New Haven, and the CT shoreline. Heartland is a perfect getaway from New York City because all of the above is within walking distance. Heartland sits on our half acre property, spaced away from our home. It is a converted garage, open concept with vaulted ceiling, lots of natural light, open floor space perfect for yoga or movement, with a beachy/spiritual vibe. The bathroom is without plumbing or running water, but is equipped with a composting toilet, sink, mini refrigerator, microwave, and a toaster. We provide a variety of teas and plates, bowls and utensils. Please bring your own towels for shower and beach, or you can borrow ours for an additional $20. Outdoor shower is nearby, and outdoor seating. Adirondack chairs around a fire pit with wood provided. Please note: Because Heartland is coastal, there are mosquitos in the yard and at the beach at sundown in July/August so do bring insect repellent or you can use the one provided. Please note: No outdoor shower after mid-October as it gets too chilly. We are a quiet family of four with two tween/teen boys, and we welcome peaceful, friendly, adventurous Hip Campers to our Cozy CT Shoreline Cottage.

Calm & clean
This special find is clean, spacious, and a calm place to rest on your next adventure. We enjoyed the thoughtful decor and accomdations, tall ceilings, having walkable eating options, and taking in the beach every morning. Hosts were very kind and easy to work with.

We’ll be back!
We had a very comfy stay at Brett’s place, which was a great base from which to explore the seaside town of Guilford and it’s beaches, lobster shacks, etc. It was full of little touches we didn’t expect which made it feel special, and the outdoor shower was warmer and with better pressure than back home. Brett and Juliet were great hosts and shared their son’s soccer balls with our son who loved running around in the big garden. We’ll be back!

Tiny House Bungalow walk to beach!
Beach Destination
Hosts were friendly, accommodating and responded promptly. This was a great backyard destination for two local beaches, both of which are about a 15 minute walk from the cottage (no charge if arriving on foot). Jacob's beach is tidy and ideal for swimming. The other beach is a stretch of sand & grass, and muddy along the shoreline (not ideal for swimming but great to hang out and explore). The cottage and the outdoor shower were welcome luxuries for a beach destination in a quiet neighborhood.
Location
