In Groveland CA near Pine Mountain Lake and Yosemite is a few mile away . Welcome to our beautiful 824 acre cattle ranch with two small ponds! The Canvas Bell Tent brings traditional camping to another level. We are located just outside the small town of Groveland and are just 30 miles from the gate of Yosemite. The Bell tent sits on an elevated platform inside a 2 acre fenced area away from the cattle. Your tent comes furnished with sleeping pads, cots (arriving August 26th), carpeting, and bedside tables. There's running water at the site, which you can use to fill up your water bottles or use for cooking. We also have two rocking chairs on the tent platform where you can sip on a beverage and take in the beauty around you.
When exploring our property you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite. We're not far from town either -- in just a few minutes you can drive to our local grocery store and pizza parlor.
When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization and it's real quiet. This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or the other countless species of birds. This is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, small family or a couple looking for a place to stay near Yosemite.
A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

John was a great host! His campground was immaculate! The cleanliness & the extras! To the air mattress pump, camping stove & and toiletries. It was a welcoming and comfortable stay. Thank you John!
John was a very gracious host, and greeted me soon after I arrived. We chatted for a while about his beautiful property, and he pointed me in the direction of some good trails to explore. I had to end my trip early due to the excessive heat, and he was kind enough to reach out to Hipcamp to arrange a credit. I will certainly be back to enjoy his fantastic camp site to the fullest (in cooler weather).
Host John Boere, was very welcoming and accommodating. The site was clean and in a lovely hilltop location, shaded by oaks and fanned by pleasant breezes. The set up had a lot of thought put into it and so had a lot of character and ambiance. The civil war style tent and the home built out house were nice touches. There was plenty of water, a very nice stone rimmed fire pit, with lots of wood and two nice rocking chairs in addition to the picnic table that had built in benches. The inside of the tent was carpeted, with several useful pieces of furniture and still very spacious. The tent was on a nice platform off the ground and had ample ventilation screens. Further it was white thus helping reflect heat. Although nicely isolated with a very rural farm atmosphere it was only ten minutes from Groveland where there was a nice grocery store, saloon, coffee places and restaurants. I have no reservations in recommending it to other glampers.
Lovely ranch with cows!
We absolutely loved our stay at John's lovely ranch. The camping area was very peaceful, near the fields where his cows roam freely. The tent was great, very comfortable and set up nicely with a rocking chair out front. We had a lovely time.
Additionally, the nearby town, Groveland has a great saloon - the longest serving saloon I'm California ! The Yart shuttle to Yosemite stops by Groveland as well which is convenient if you'd rather not have to drive there and back.
My husband and I camp usually twice a year. This is so far our best experience ever. No need to setup the tent ourselves. It saves a lot of time. The campsite is quiet. You have your private toilet, and it is very clean! We enjoyed the sunset so
much. Will definitely come back. We love it!
Glamping on a farm near yosemite
We loved Glamping on John‘s farm! The views were breathtaking and we enjoyed exploring the property and seeing all of the wildlife. The highlight for me was waking up to cows about 30 feet away from us. It was an easy 45 minute drive to Yosemite, the town is super cute with a few really great bars/restaurants and John was a fantastic host with a lot of knowledge of the area. We would absolutely come back!
