The Boathouse at Holly Cove
It was colder in the evenings but the wood burning stove made a huge difference.
This was a well equipped peace of paradise off grid.

I loved the “glamping” vibe. There was a fire pit and a grill available (even though we didn’t use it). Kayaks and a paddle board were easy to use around the bay. Saw one of the closest shooting stars I’ve ever seen while star gazing on the dock, and the sunset over the bay is just gorgeous. Hope to be back soon!

My partner and I stayed at the Boathouse for an off the grid/quiet get away, and it definitely delivered ! We loved being surrounded by nature- listening to the crickets, seeing the stars so clear at night, petting the goats, and having the chickens follow us around. It gave us the camping vibe we wanted without having to set up our site. It was simple yet cozy, perfect for what we were looking for. The views by the water were absolutely beautiful; I definitely recommend catching the sunsets. We enjoyed the kayaks and SUP too- it was my first time on the paddle board and I had a blast! We were far enough away from things for peace and quiet but close enough to explore the town (highly recommend scoops ice cream!) and even do a day trip to chincoteague.
It was a great stay and we would definitely come back again.

Beautiful little place, but right on the marsh and not very well-ventilated (despite the big open doors, there isn’t much airflow) so it’s stuffy, kind of stinky from the compost toilet, and very buggy. Probably lovely in cooler weather, our fault for camping on a very hot weekend!

Overall my son and I had a great experience. Our hosts were very accommodating and forthcoming with all our requests and questions.
There is so much to do from the kayaks and paddle board to the board games and scenery is truly gorgeous. When we weren’t indulging all that, we sat in the hammocks or on the dock and just enjoyed the scenery. my son so loved the animals and exploring the beach with alll it’s treasures. We were not prepared for the bug situation there though.
Definitely pack some spray and be prepared to endure because The mosquito netting is only nominally effective while sleeping. This would be the only drawback from my recommendation for the boathouse but there are several options at holly cove

Beautiful quiet property even though their main house is right there it felt like we were alone the whole time! Kayaking and paddle boarding in the bay was loads of fun and a huge plus that they are available.

Great spot!! Everything was exactly as advertised and we enjoyed the kayaks the most! Perfect spot to get away from it all! (Added bonus of being close to downtown)

The Boathouse at Holly Cove
It was such a beautiful setting and experience. I went with my five-year-old daughter and she loved the goats and chickens and seeing the little crabs on the little shore. She also loved the swing chairs and we definitely want to come back

What a magical immersion in nature while sleeping in a comfy bed. The battery candles are so wonderful, the big big windows allow the breeze and the sounds of nature to relax and put you to sleep. I wish I stayed longer.
It was so wonderful to access to the kayaks to go out on the water and enjoy the smooth quiet sound.

We absolutely loved our stay! Such a tranquil, no-fuss experience. We especially enjoyed spending our evenings on the hammock chairs, and greeting the goats in the morning. We spent a lot of time by and on the water with the provided kayaks and paddle boards and made the very short trip into town for dinner one evening. This truly was one of our favorite “camping” trips yet and we will be back!

This is simply a fantastic beautiful location. The boathouse was a blast. My wife and I enjoyed feeding the goats, chatting with the chickens and meeting Chris. We highly recommend it!!

Nice quiet get away spot on the Eastern Shore. I had a peaceful night sleep in the Boathouse. Not far from town, which has several places to eat, drink, shop.

The Boathouse at Holly Cove
We had a wonderful two-night stay at the boathouse. Chris and Channing went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met. The location had everything - a comfy bed, battery-operated lights, a woodburning stove with firewood, a compost toilet with a sink (no running water, but the jug of water over the sink worked great), firepit, tree swing, board games, and, of course, the friendly chickens and goats! My kids even got to collect eggs and take the goats for a walk. We loved exploring the historic downtown and enjoyed our morning coffee and donuts at Corner Bakery. (Unfortunately, the Ker Place museum was closed on the days we were there and Da Vinci's Italian Kitchen permanently closed on April 2, 2022.) We hope to be back someday!

Having fire wood, kayaks and even eggs offered free of charge puts Channing and Chris above and beyond!! Such a beautiful and peaceful getaway! Even the chickens were nice... talk about hospitality! If you're in the area, stop by! You will not be disappointed!!!

Boathouse is a well tought, cozy, romantic little hideout.
The hosts are lovely couple that would go the distance to make you feel home.
We had a great day&night enjoying the pier, campfire and the sunset.
Def recommend Boathouse to both experienced and first time campers !

This weekend getaway was exactly what my partner and I needed! The boat house was very well kept, very well lit in the daytime, and with romantic faux candles to set the mood in the evening. The sunsets are extraordinary, just as previous reviewers have stated. Also the drinking water and handwashing station was a lifesaver.
Additional note: Overnight on one of the nights there was a bad storm with wind and rain, and while a little creaky, the boathouse stayed dry, so no need to worry!

It was very very peaceful and quiet. The owners were out of town but they were very quick to respond. Huge property and they have goats and chickens. They allow you to use the kayaks. Also there is a grill provided and a picnic area and fire pit. One thing is there is no shower or electricity so depending on the temp…..it may not be cold/warm enough?? They also have a “studio” AirBnb that has s huge beautiful outside fire place and seating area….which we weren’t sure if we could have used??? Bars and restaurants are within a 4 mile bumpy drive……

What a lovely space! Beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, and with access to kayaks, a SUP, a small sandy beach and a long dock with beautiful water views. There are also some chickens and 2 goats.
It's on the property of the owners' house and there are 2 other rental units on the property as well, so it's not a private place. That didn't stop us from having an absolutely lovely time. The owner was very nice, communicative when needed, and brought a charged replacement fan when the battery ran out. And, unlike most previous hipcamp experiences where there aren't people around for miles, we hung out one evening with people staying in one of the other rentals and it was really nice.
The location was good, near great (seafood) restaurants/takeout for lunch and dinner but not many breakfast options except for donuts and other sweets. So bring your own breakfast if you want a non-sugary one.

Where should I start?! The propert itself is gorgeous. The Boat House is just right for two people looking to glamp just a little while still sticking to the basics of camping.
Chris and Channing are amazing host, offering space, while also staying available for any questions or concerns. They even switched out the rechargeable fan for us when it ran out of juice.
There are kayaks available to take out on the water if you should desire, as well as a dock and shoreline to quietly enjoy the peaceful scenery.
Some things to bear in mind:
- there’s no power or AC available in the boat house, so be sure to prepare according. There is a mosquito net on the bed, so opening the doors to sleep is totally an option.
- there’s no plumbing available either, but there is a composting toilet.
- make sure you pick the right season to go. We chose the hottest weekend of the summer and it was a little overwhelming as a result, however it’s perfect for late summer/early fall.
All in all, my partner and I would highly recommend The Boat House at Holly Cove for a great weekend getaway to the eastern shore. 10/10.
Also the goats, Fitz and Axl are incredibly friendly!!

The hosts were very kinda and the area was clean. Bring an extra fan if you can in the summer, it can get very hot. We loved the goats and chickens! They really like green beans and apples and are very sweet.

The Boathouse was incredible! It’s cozy, quiet, and simply a lovely place to stay. The space was so thoughtfully designed with adorable battery-powered lanterns, swing chairs, giant doors to open up the space, a toilet, water for drinking and washing hands, and more!
Channing was very communicative and quick to respond to any questions we had. She even set up a cot for us so three of us could comfortably sleep. We didn’t get to use the kayaks, SUP, fire pit or grill because there was a huge thunderstorm, yet still had the best time just hanging out inside the boathouse playing the board games they had. Bonus: they have goats and chickens!
Highly recommend a stay at this gem of a place!

Nice place, nice hosts, cozy bed. They were kind enough to let us check in early as our plans got fouled up. Only thing I'd recommend is a small space heater for those damp, chilly nights. Really lovely place.
