Description

Sure, we all love tents and RVs, but for those times when you really want to just feel as if you live in one of these majestic wildernesses, it can be nice to rent a rustic cabin. And when you find yourself in that position in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest, you’ll definitely want to check out the Hoback Guard Station Lookout Cabin. Near Monument Ridge Lookout Tower and the confluence of two gorgeous creeks, this adorable log structure features bunk beds, a corral out back for those who bring stock (dogs welcome, too), and a strict BYOB policy—bring your own bedding! Beer is of course also welcome, just be sure to carry out any trash you bring in.

The photo at the top of this article is inaccurate.

The hot water was not working when we were there and there was a note that the water had not been tested for drinkability.

There is no cleaning service. You have to depend on the people before you to clean up after themselves.

The bunk beds do not have railings on the top so we did not put the kids up there.

Overall our visit was fine. Nothing spectacular. Disappointed about the lack of hot water and unknown conditions of the water.

For the price 3/5 stars.
