Easy to find, although the Google coordinates takes you to the dam. Right off a quiet road. Really not meant for anything more than tent camping. Tight squeezes between trees.
Beautiful views of the river, and trees. Could hear the fish splashing around at night. Lots of highway noise, which was a little distracting if you can't drown it out. Overall, a nice little space for a quick stay.

Great, peaceful location on the river! The stars were amazing!
Amazing quiet place to stay definitely would recommend it to anyone beautiful view of the river you can see the dam wildlife just the place to get anyway from reality

Fabulous secluded spot on the river. We loved it so much we turned our 2 night stay into 3!
Some distant highway sounds but we mostly just tuned that out. Mark was a great host and helped us get settled.
Thr site is small.I have a truck camper and could only get to the turn on the campsite road. That was good enough for me.Bugs were not bad but watch out for leaves of 3
Mark was a great host. He met us at the property to show us around the site.
McCoy's River Retreat sits 15-20' above the Wisconsin River. Mark maintains the area well by mowing and weeding a large clear space to set up tents/hammocks and park your vehicles off the road. Mark provides a large picnic table and fire ring.
Feeling ambitious? 200 yards north of the site there's a small trail through the woods that leads down to the water. Paddle down the river for two miles and you'll find a great bar called Bullheads Bar & Grill on the left. It's a workout using a kayak or stand-up paddle board, but well worth the 360° views.
Our only negative were the bugs. At night they did become a bit of a neusance. Although, the fire helped keep them at bay. Bring your bug spray!
Hope you enjoy your future stay at McCoy's River Retreat! We highly recommend.

The campsite was easy to get to on paved roads not far from town. Mark was easy to get ahold of and coordinated with our late arrival time to show us how to pull into the site. He left us a nice stack of firewood and access to his shed with lighter fluid and matches. A nice clearing to pitch a tent right along the riverbank, with a stone fire ring and picnic table. This is a great stay if you are fishing the river. Although there is a steep bank preventing river access it's walking distance to the dam and boat launch upstream.
