There are over 80 acres of woods, fields and an island to explore. The property has over 2,000 feet of frontage on the Chippewa River. There is also a year around creek that flows through the property to the river. Currently there are three separate sites that are suitable for camping on the bank of the Chippewa. Each site is primitive and has lots of privacy. There are five trails that go through the woods as well as follow the bank of the river. There is a stairway that descends to the river. The river at this point is rather pristine. There are no houses on the camping side of the river and just a few on the opposite side. The river along the property is great for wading, swimming, canoeing/kayaking and fishing. Less than 3 miles from the property there are snowmobile and four wheeling trails that connect to trails that extend over 300 miles. The property is less than 10 miles from the headquarters of the Ice Age Trail that stretches from near Superior to near Madison, Wisconsin.

Not much to add that other reviewers haven't already covered. Maggie's Merry Mirror was great! Great location, privacy, quiet, space to explore and very kind and thoughtful hosts. We stayed at site 1 with a beautiful view of the river. Very dog friendly.
This was my first experience using Hipcamp and it didn't disappoint. I'll definitely come back!
Dennis made us feel comfortable and welcome, and the trails and river are lovely here. We really enjoyed wading in the river with our dog. The bridge that Dennis and his son made was so cool!
The sites all have a lot of privacy. We had our pop up camper with us, which limited our options for sites that we could stay at here, so we were closer to the road than we would like. The tent sites looked really great.
We had a blast camping at Maggie’s Merry Mirror. We ended up getting in later than expected but Dennis was very accommodating and still made it out to show us to our site. We can’t wait to come back!
We loved our stay here!
Beautiful and well kept area at a price you can’t beat! It also is a beautiful drive especially in the fall. The hosts were helpful and great communicators. We definitely recommend!
Hospitality to the max!!!
What a wonderful place to stay! Welcomed with open arms! Dennis took us to a couple different sites and we ended up choosing site #4, when originally booked #2, which suited us much better. Our dog Joker was thrilled to have Addy ( their dog ) as a weekend playmate. On top of the amazing hospitality, Dennis lent us his canoe as we paddeled down the river for hours. He even had to make a special trip to pick us up ( we missed the exit on the river to the campsite). Thank you guys so much! We'll be back again, for sure!!!
❤️ loved it, will be back
Lovely! It is so kind of Dennis and Maggie to share their sweet property with the rest of us. It feels like an act of pure-hearted solidarity to put so much work into providing a place of respite for the price they have set. We enjoyed hearing cranes all around, plus lots of birds, owls, and a group of coyotes overnight. We also had a lovely interaction with a group of young deer when we had a midnight walk. I am not a fan of hearing road traffic while camping, and you can hear the road from the campsite, still, I will camp here in the future and would recommend it to anyone. The fact that their happy dog was a doppelganger for my dearly loved and departed dog was just a bonus that made me a little emotional, but in a good way. ♥️
I stayed over Labor Day, had to leave a bit earlier than planned due to personal reasons, but gorgeous site. I arrived late and Dennis was more than welcoming. He drove me to the site in the dark and did his best to explain the trails (in the dark). As a single woman camper I felt very welcome and safe here. My dog absolutely loved exploring the woods and the trails. I'm wondering if the site I was on was close to a camp ground or something, I heard a lot of music and hooting and hollering, but then again it was a holiday weekend! Friday night I didn't hear any of that, just the frogs, crickets and a little rain. So peaceful!
Beautiful camp site
I really enjoyed my stay there. The camp host was very friendly. Site 1 was very clean, and beautiful. The river was lovely. Free stack of wood. I would definitely recommend.
