*Excellent for celebrating parties or quiet nature seekers*

This site is a secluded and private clearing in the middle of the woods. Located on the end of the road, your only communication with the outside world will be the occasional hiker coming through. This site is a 5 min. walk to the lake.

Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.

Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.

Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.

No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.

we had the opportunity to tour the sites and every one of them has its perks. the property is maintained to a degree that you'd expect of someone who truly cares about the land. we settled at The Island per Gary's advice, and the night was spectacular. this was my first try at hipcamp and it feels good to know I'm already done searching for a place for the future.

Tara and her crew were super duper sweet and incredibly accommodating! The “Seclusion” was exactly that- nice and private, and a very open space to build our tent city. The property was fun to explore, and we also visited Council Grounds for some extra swimming, the Grand Stand for Nordic Waffles (only on the weekends!) and Casa Amigos for an amazing meal before heading home. Thank you Tara and fam for providing such a rad space to get away!

Awesome experience camping at the Seclusion! Tara is an exceptional host and extremely accommodating. We had a bigger group and some dogs but had plenty of space for everything we had. We had some questions (and a booking mistake) and she got back to us right away, and even brought us some little gifts when we arrived! We would all definitely recommend anyone looking for some quiet time away to check it out!

Our time at Camp Escape was fantastic! The Seculusion was perfectly secluded and more than accessible with our Outback. It was peaceful everywhere we went! I even gave the row boat a try! What a blast! Our dog had the time of his life rolling around in the grass and exploring. Be sure to bring bug spray and be on the look out for ticks! Tis the season!

A huge thank you to Tara for being a wonderful host! We will definitely be back!

Tara is a fantastic host! The seclusion campsite is exactly that, secluded. It is the perfect peaceful escape. The campsite is in a beautiful little clearing with hiking trails and nearby lakes. We definitely plan on returning! Would highly recommend.

Tara was great, communicated well, and tried to accommodate our ever-changing schedule. We loved our stay at The Seclusion, and it was as secluded as promised. We were at the end of a little road, and only saw people when we ventured away from our campsite. It rained the first day we got there, making for lots of aggressive mosquitos, but they calmed down after that. Ticks were pretty common - I found a few on me every day. I was picking them up on my shoes as I walked through the grass.

The only complaint is there needs to be better signs to get to The Seclusion. The road goes to a camp that wasn't meant for travel trailers and it took us a couple hours (and a couple scratches on the truck which were my own fault) to get turned back around. It turns out that there was a sign for The Seclusion, but you can't see it until after you make the turn. Tara told us others have made the same mistake.

That little adventure aside, even with the mosquitos and ticks, we loved our stay. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place.

We stayed at Tara’s over the 4th of July weekend and absolutely fell in love with it! Camp Seclusion is definitely secluded, which for us was great to unwind from the day to day work life. We were able to stroll around the whole campsite and do some hiking and visit the points of interest which were pretty cool.

Some advise for any future campers camping at Camp Seclusion is take bug and tick repellent! Also if you need water, the nearest lake is close but a hike. We had a 14 Gallon reservoir which was great for a 3 night stay to shower and clean dishes.

Definitely coming back!! Tara was a great camp host, so thank you!!

The site lived up to the name “Seclusion” . Lots of room to spread out if need be. Tara was super friendly and ready for any questions. Good hikes on the property and lots of hiking and swimming in the area.
