The perfect site for the great outdoors adventurer. This escape has two entrances. One requires a short hike and a canoe ride to a secluded island in the middle of a privately owned lake. OR take our 50 yards DIY bridge across the bog.
Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.
Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.
Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.
No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.

We had an amazing stay at the Island campsite!! Beautiful land and property, wonderful host. Dog friendly space, my pup did not want to leave😂 Thank you for sharing your space with us. We will be back
Loved this campsite! It was nice that there was firewood available to purchase so you don’t have to go far! Very woodsy and private. We’ll definitely be back! :)
this was our second stay at camp escape and we were just as delighted as the first time. tara is a phenomenal host- available when you need her, but let's you be if you don't. each site is totally unique with completely different levels of work vs payoff. 100% off the grid: a perfect mix of hippy and hillbilly. we will be back!

Tara was fantastic! So responsive and accommodating. The site was beyond my expectations. So serene and every detail thoughtfully placed. I highly recommend.
Such beautiful property, and friendly owners! We originally booked this place to enjoy the kayaks, but then it ended up being a snowy weekend. Even so, we had an amazing time hiking throughout the property and relaxing by the fire. Would definitely recommend!
The Island is a dream destination in the heart of WI. My group hammock-camped and had an amazing time. There were boats to tour around the lake with and a super helpful cart to bring things across the bridge. Firewood was dry and the fresh eggs were delicious!
The stay was great. We did come in on a day it stormed and the island stayed dry. Nice amenities like paddle boat and canoe. There was a fire ring and table as well.
Only concern I have is general upkeep of the island. There is a lot of brush and toilet paper littering the islands edge. The “diy” bridge is also slick (even when dry) so be careful!

we are avid campers and outdoors people- we LOVED our stay at the island. we booked with the intention of exploring the surrounding area but never left the site- it was just what the doctor ordered. tara was ON POINT with communication and so accommodating. we'll go back. lovely property- thanks for sharing it with us!

The Island is an awesome campsite. It takes a little work to carry all of your gear out to the island but it is well worth it. Sitting around the campfire in the evening and listening to the various songs of nature while checking out the stars is awesome. It kicks off a bit before sundown with the birds and then progresses to what I believe are tree frogs. As the tree frogs start to call it a night the bullfrogs get going. A little while before I was ready to call it a night all of the nature friends relax and took things down to a nice level for sleeping. Excellent site and excellent host.
