Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.
Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.
Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.
No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.

The Escape was great. Quiet solitude, but you could meet people if you headed up to the main road. I stayed at the Gilligans Island site, about 200 yards off the main property road. If you didn't want to see anyone during your stay you wouldn't need to!
Everything with the host was great, Tara was excellent with all the communications and got back to me quick with any questions. I had 2 dogs at the site, and they were able to be off leash all weekend, and had a blast.

Tara was the hostess with the mostess! We were greeted warmly upon our arrival at Gilligans Island. The camp site was great and secluded as all the camp sites are at Camp Escape however the water was low and seeing we had kayaks she took us over to The Woods campsite. FANTASTIC! Very secluded on a beautiful lake. This is what Hip Camping is all about. A perfect host, beautiful site and total seclusion. My self (Tatonka), Lady Bird and our dog Moose highly recommend. We definitely will be back.
