COVID19 Update:  Private Bathroom/shower (see below)

2021 Updates: review bullets at the bottom

* it doesn't get much better than this for group campers.. Riverfront, incredible views, seclusion, privacy, easy river access, balance of shade and sun, hot showers & flush toilet, tons of parking, store within a walk..

* spacious secluded waterfront site suitable for larger groups on the Cacapon River surrounded by woody areas on 3 sides and mountain on the other side of the river. Groups up to 40 people have stayed on site so far. Camping area is about 125x60 feet, plus more away from water depending on how many cars you bring, with space for overflow cars within a walk. Site is a great value for larger groups.

* deep and shallow spots for fishing and kayaking (this downstream site has wider river and calmer waters)

* this site is great for multi-family groups with kids, the waterline is mostly calm and shallow by the shore,  you can easily see your kids due to low shorelines, and you can also walk to the bridge 1/8 of a mile and "tube" through the rapids back to the site. Fun that can last for hours.

* put in upstream for trips ranging from 1h to whole day and camp along the river

* Stoney Creek Country store within walking distance for your basic needs plus pizza, milkshakes, subs, ice creams.. and home of the "best cheese steak you ever had"

* you can burn any driftwood you find (plenty!), but no cutting of trees/vegetation allowed

* this site is suitable for RV/dry camping, you'll need to get a little creative with finding a level spot, and be relatively good (but not an ace) with your trailer/RV.

* Please review Stoney Creek Campground Page for available nearby attractions.

COVID19 Update: "Private" to site bathrooms. You will be issued a pin code. Two rolls of TP and a roll of paper towels will be provided. The bathroom/shower will be cleaned prior to your arrival. Your group will be responsible for keeping the bathroom/shower stocked for your needs, and as clean and disinfected as you're comfortable for the duration of your stay. The port-a-potty by the store will be a backup option. If going to the store, please wear a mask and review COVID19 guidelines posted at the door.

All long weekends will require 3 night stay (Memorial, Independence, Labor) and have a price premium.

If you'd like to come in earlier than check-in time, you can check with us if we can accommodate, but the best way to reserve that morning is to book additional night.

River Conditions: Google: "national weather gcpw2" for current and forecast river conditions. The river will likely become dangerous to enjoy past 5ft at Cacapon gauge.  "Good" (safe) range is 1.5-4.5ft. Actual river depth varies.

2021 Updates:

* There will likely be a new site between South and North called "Rocks", referring to the rapids which the site will be facing. There are about 320-350 feet of shoreline between North and South. We should be able to maintain good privacy for all sites, and river should help minimize any noise.

* We will allow all campers (and campers only!) to tube down from the bridge river access across those rapids and exit and the designated downstream portion of the North site between hours of 9am and 6pm. We had campers take advantage of this on a case by case basis asking the North site for permission, but we'd like to set this expectation ahead of time for North campers to see other campers in the water and path through.

2nd time with Andrey! Just wow. You won’t find a better river front spot. Waking up and falling asleep to that river flowing is wonderful. Clear improvements made over last year as well which is always a plus! You won’t be disappointed.

We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Group of 10. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out. Beautiful site along the river. Fairly secluded. Easy access to put our kayaks and tubes in and out of river. Andrey is a very attentive and informative host. We will definitely be booking this site again!

The north site at Almost heaven riverfront was amazing. Spacious, right on the water, and the background of the mountain just tops it off. Short walk to restrooms, great privacy, fire pit and picnic tables just add to its greatness. We had a group of 8, and there was plenty fo room for more people.

Private campsite with a wonderful view of the mountains and the river. Enjoy fishing, tubing, and swimming all day. The owner is very pleasant and welcoming if you need anything. Bathroom is only a 3 minute walk away from the site.

This is the second time staying at Almost Heaven Riverfront North and once again we loved it and this time we stayed for an an entire week in our small camper. The site has two new picnic tables and fire ring. Andrey is a great host and is very good with communicating in person and via Hipcamp text if/when we needed something. Having the camp store close by was a plus during our stay except for the fact that we felt like we needed to have a milkshake everyday:) We brought an inflatable boat this time and used it alot to paddle between the two sets of rapids since the river was very calm and deep enough in some sections. Overall awesome trip, definitely will be back again.

Large campsite with easy access to the river. The kids loved tubing down the rapids from the bridge, catching crayfish, and kayaking. The newly installed fire grate fire grate was wonderful to use. A short walk to the full private bath and country store. We took a day trip to the Paw Paw tunnel on the C & O canal, very cool! Stargazing was amazing!
