Enjoy primitive tent camping within minutes to Kanawha State Forest and other nearby Charleston attractions. Enjoy the all-season creek, old growth trees, and beautiful rock outcrops sprinkled through out. You will have almost 12 acres to yourself to relax and reset in your own little West Virginia "state park" filled with active wildlife! You will park on the street on the pull off and follow the signs to the designated area to set up camp (Hemlock Shadows). You can hike and explore within the property boundaries marked with pink ribbons. The property follows the road curve down past the Charleston lift station, and encompasses the creek and travels up the steep hill. Deer, racoons, coyote, snakes (and possibly a bobcat!) have been seen in action on the trail cam located at the front entry of the property facing the farm gate (placed to track trespassers). There are many rocks, good mushroom hunting, and some strenuous hiking areas. Foot traffic only here, but there are great bicycle trails located a few minutes down the street at Kanawha State Forest. There are bugs, birds, reptiles, animals, poison ivy, all the natural things so please be aware and prepared! You can find salamanders at the creek, too.
