All Sites (Forest, Meadow, or Hilltop) are Walk-In only from the parking area. It is a 1-3 minute walk to all sites. Carts are provided to help haul gear. Vehicles are not permitted to drive on the main campground area.

Our Hilltop sites are located in the upper meadow along a tree line close to Hwy 101. Parking and site access is available on the Hwy 101 side of the campground with a relatively flat 1-minute walk to the sites. Each site has a compacted gravel camp pad surrounded by meadow grass, a fire pit, and picnic table. Please note: Road noise will be very noticeable here and the portable toilets are located across the meadow. On the plus side, you can spread out.

While at Virago Camp enjoy the River Path loop, public swim hole under the Hwy 101 bridge, or lawn games and birdwatching bingo found in the camo toy box.

Firewood is available across the road at RW Services for $5/bundle.

The Virago Campground is a perfect place to home-base your visit to the stunning Olympic Peninsula.

The campsite was great! Very accessible and in a convenient location. Janice provided detailed instructions upon arrival. Wish our stay could’ve been longer!

Cute place right off the highway. Ample amount of parking....I had a lot of stuff to carry in and the wagons were helpful and sturdy tp do it all. Depending where you are it is a bit of a jaunt to get loads back and forth to the site.
The porta potty was spotless. Wonderful to see and not to smell.
I camped on the hill top and would have loved a bathroom around there..as to having go up and downhill multiple times.

We stayed at Virago Campground because of it’s convenient location to the Hoh rainforest of Olympic Natl. Park! It was the perfect spot right off Hwy 101 - easy to find, easy to get to & made for an easier early morning departure so we could get into the park (before the line of cars forms).
The sites are nice & well maintained, port-a-potty’s were very clean, and it’s unassumingly private with pretty grounds (especially along the river path at the edge of the property & in the forest spots).

Definitely a good spot to say for a night. Easy to find, spacious, and only 45min drive from Hoh Rainforest Visitor Center. Only negative was that it’s on the main (and only) road around so we heard cars ALL NIGHT. I’m a heavy sleeper and I woke up several times because of the cars passing.

Hipcamper Amy

I would recommend this place. The space is huge, on a piece of land of grass near a meadow. This place does not allow cars to enter the camp area. You need to carry your luggages with the cart provided. That's a bummer, if you have many luggages. The tent place is around 100 meters away from the parking lot. But pulling the cart can be a special memory for your trip. This place is also near the main road, so it can be a bit noisy when car passing by.

One more thing I really hope to improve is, build a path from the parking lot to hill top tent area. Pulling the cart on the grass earth is not easy.

The campsite is absolutely awesome! Everything is very well labeled. The bathrooms are clean and honestly the noise from the high is not bad at all. I would definitely stay there again!
