Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. In order to get to the site you have to time it correctly with the tides so anyone camping will need to coordinate with me prior! Also it is a 12 minute hike to the site. You will hike across a creek, about 8 inches deep. Then 25 yards of mud, you will sink a couple inches into the mud. Wear appropriate footwear.

It was fairly easy to get to. Lots of space that’s very private and right on the water. Make sure to time your coming and going with the tides. Perfect sunset spot if you can get a clear day.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! Tony is a great host with great communication and even leads you to the site. The site has a cool open cabin for shelter, and then we set up tents inside for added warmth. Part of the trail is muddy (I recommend rain boots but half our group wore sandals and did just fine.) We cannot wait to come back!
Truly unique camping experience
Such a unique experience, the lean to was in a quiet little outcropping only accessible at certain times of the day (low tide). Our host was wonderful and showed us to our site and was nice enough to offer to carry somethings as it was a 15 minute walk through some tidal areas. My partner and I had a wonderful time shucking some oysters and watching the meteor shower. Would 100% come back again and recommend to all our friends.
To say this is the coolest place I've ever stayed is an understatement. Although you have to walk through mud and water to get here, the efforts are well worth it. If youre looking for a quiet and secluded spot to camp, this is the one! Tony is so welcoming and kind, the spot is unbelievable and the hut has a lot to offer.
A unique adventure
If you are up for an adventure in a one-of-a-kind location, this spot delivers! Incredible views, seclusion, and a relaxing place to chill. The mud on the walk out is real, but definitely manageable if you plan accordingly and embrace it as the unique experience it is!
A secluded getaway
We loved our stay at Chuckanut Rock! The campsite offered gorgeous sunset views and lots of privacy. The trek to the site was an added layer of adventure, but our Chacos were perfect for the excursion. We also enjoyed the nearby hiking offerings, as the trailhead to Oyster Dome is just a few minutes away. If you’re looking for a secluded, yet rugged getaway, this is it!
