Places to see near James S.’s Land
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Really great spot - nice and private, large open space near a creek, ideally located near the entrance to Grayson Highlands. We saw James for a moment and he is a good guy! Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
Perfect dispersed camp site! Easy to get to, barely any traffic on the road where the site is located, and plenty of space for tents or a van/pop-up camper, and a little creek on the property.
A nice small site.
A nice secluded site with a new clean outhouse. I was hope for a place onsite to fish, but didn't see one, the small stream added great sleep noise but much too small to allow fishing. Overall I would recommend this site for camping.
The space was quiet and peaceful. There where a few vehicles that traveled by the site during the day but little to no traffic after dark. The creek was very accessible from the site and the water was perfect for cleaning up and meal prep.
This was a nice campsite! We enjoyed our time.
-Very close to Grayson Highlands SP. It is an easy drive that took less than 10 minutes
-Very quite and secluded. During our two night stay we saw one car.
-The pit toilet was clean and really convenient
-About one mile up the road there is a gas station and store that is well stocked with fire wood, ice, beer, food, and camping supplies
-The campsite is across the street from a livestock field. Depending on the direction of the wind you will smell cow/horse poop at your campsite.
-A picnic table would be a nice touch! We cooked a couple meals at our campsite and had to cook/prep our food on the ground.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and if we are ever in the area in the future we would book again. Quick note to future campers! Be sure to be cautious with your food. One night we had a bear sniffing around our tent. Luckily, we put all of our food and toiletries in our car, so after being yelled at the bear moved along.
What a great spot! will be back!
WOW! What a great little spot! The location in relationship to Grayson Highlands is perfect. My wife and I spent the day hiking in to mount rogers and then got back to our car and it is just a short drive to the camp site. The site itself is right off of a little drive and has very little(if any) traffic. The pit toilet was clean and private and the walk to the creek was short making water easy to get! James has the right idea with this spot! We will be visiting again soon! Thanks again!
