Iron Brooke Donkey Farm is located on rolling hills of mountain pasture, backing on to the Yarra State Forest. Bushwalk along the little creek among tall trees and majestic tree ferns, or just sit in a deck chair and take in the exquisite views at the top of the hill. Multiple tracks head through the Yarra State Forest where you can wind your way along dirt roads through to Noojee, Powelltown, or Reefton, each of which have a cosy pub at the end of the drive.
The donkey farm is situated conveniently, halfway between the popular redwood forest, and the giant Ada tree walk. Just chill in your own time, or book an activity or a donkey ride. Donkeys can take riders up to 60kg
We do allow pets, but this MUST be discussed with us prior to booking as we have strict rules around this. We also allow campfires only when fire restrictions aren't in place - which is often all summer.
Children under 3 are free, but for insurance purposes, please mention them in the comments.
This property has an overall capacity to ensure that our number of visitors remain low. This not only ensures that campers recieve the space and peace they look for in a campsite like this, but also so that we can ensure the bathrooms can be kept clean and not overloaded. This is also a part of our COVID safe plan.
Due to this overall capacity it is important that you book for the number of people that you intend to have stay, as while we try to accomodate increases to booking numbers, they are not guaranteed unless booked. If we have met overall capacity then we may not be able to approve increases to booking numbers. This is for the comfort and safety of all our visitors. Thank you

Super friendly donkeys
I was surprised at how natural this setting this, with a forest and creek adjacent.
I met with the owner on arrival. There are a few spots on the property. Rain was forcast, so it was quiet and I took my pick.
My plan was to test out my 4WD rig / set-up and that's what I spent my time doing, but it looks like there are nice walks on the property and pleanty of tracks near the property to explore.
The highlight is the donkeys. They are really cool!
Camping with donkeys
We loved our overnight stay! Linda was a great host and met us on arrival, gave us a little tour and (our fav part) introduced us to the donkeys. It rained pretty much the whole time and it didn’t bother us at all as the property is beautiful and over looks the mountains. The 2 hour break in the rain we got we spent around the camp fire. The bathroom is rustic but great with a little bit of country charm thrown in. We will definitely be back!
Peaceful paddock, cute donkeys!
Linda is a friendly, wonderful host (with amazing life stories and hobbies), and her property was a real delight to stay on. The donkeys and her dog Sudo are adorable, and the space was vast, green, and peaceful, exactly what we needed. Cosy, clean facilities, and many places to walk/hike nearby. Will be coming back!
We loved camping at the iron brook donkey farm! Ruby's house was great, the land was somewhat inclined but still not too slanted to pitch the tent on.
The pros were many- the bathrooms and shower was great and we spent a lot of time wandering on the property. The kids loved the creek and the hilly parts of the paddock where they could run freely. The firewood was a perk too, the camp fire saved many a chilly night. Linda was friendly and helpful, present but not imposing and the donkeys were gorgeous.
The views atop the mountain were second to none. It was incredible waking up to the spectacular sunrises and the rooster crowing.
The parts which were surprising were the structure with the bus under it and the construction materials on the camp-site. It made camping with kids particularly challenging as we had to make sure they wouldn't run into the materials or crawl under the bus. So definitely would recommend it for older children.
The pros definitely outweighed the cons. We fully intend to come back again, we had such a great time!
Thanks again, Linda!
Excellent place to camp. Clean facilities. Great spot with lots of space and amazing views. Perfect with two families and the donkeys and bush walks to the creek to add some extra interest for them. Warburton is lovely and close, plenty to do nearby
