Reconnect with nature on our beautiful 25 acre family farm and animal sanctuary in Silvan.
Plenty of firewood to gather - and a fire pit at every site.
We have open paddocks, majestic gums, autumn colours, birds galore and a small creek running through. Our property is an animal sanctuary. We do what we can to provide a home for beautiful creatures that may not otherwise have had the life that we think they deserve. You can meet our friendly horses, goats, cows, and 3 free ranging pigs and chooks.
Dogs are welcome and love the space and stimulation of farm life!
There is even room to bring your horse and use our arena if you arrange in advance.
Children come alive here and seeing them connect with our human loving animals is such a delight. Children under 13 are free. Time with our ponies can be arranged, either to ride or to spend time grooming and loving them. Being in the energy of these magnificent creatures is awesome.
We are in a wonderful position of being at the gateway of wine country! Less than 10 minutes drive from the the first estates. We are also 10 minutes drive from the Dandenong Ranges, with all of its stunning bush walking and gardens, and 10 minutes drive from the Warburton Trail - a fantastic place to run, ride and cycle - very safe for bike riding with children with unusual cafes along the way.
You’re welcome to borrow our bikes ($10 each) and we have a bike rack that takes 2 bikes that fits on most cars.
You can book babysitting as an extra if you want to cycle, hike, eat, shop, drink etc child free for a little while. We have a very experienced 17 year old who will love to look after your children for you.
If you want the getaway without the hassle of camping, why not book the yellow barn! A beautifully renovated rustic space that can sleep up to 7 guests.
Come and immerse yourself in the experience of living with animals.

This is our second time at Harriet's place and will surely be third time in the near future.
Close to Melbourne and yet absolutely cut off once u enter this place. Calm. Serene (except for the army of cucatoos that will wake u up).
Suggestion: if you want a powered site, request at the time of booking (there are 3 - best one is inside the paddock at the bottom of the hill). If you are fine without power request for top of the hill.
Place is filled with animals (horses, goats, sheeps, ducks, hens, dogs) so my 2.5yr old was loving it. We were a party of 6 adults n 2 toddlers.
If there was a way to have a hose for the summer days, it would be perfect.
There is flush toilet n shower but try and miss the peak hours as you will be sharing it with others.
Out fav part is that even though there might be other campers.... you would be on ur own. Perfection for us. As against a holiday park where you are literally living in someones living room.
Harriet and Shaun are epic hosts and they will go out of thr way to make your stay memorable and comfortable.
5+ stars. We absolutely loved our time and would highly recommend Ferndale farm. Harriet was amazing! Her and her family have created a fantastic experience. We set up our camper on the top of the hill just above the horses. Perfect for the morning sun and a view across the ranges. There are five sites in total that are located in very different areas of the property. The one we stayed at and the lower site on the other side of the horses would be the picks for us. The toilets and showers were a luxury and well maintained. There was also plenty of firewood about the property to collect.
As others have highlight there are several animals on the property. All very friendly, well looked after and great with kids. Harriet gave my boys horse riding lessons. A great experience however Harriet’s understanding of the horses and the importance she put into creating a connection with the rider and horse was the stand out for me.
A fantastic experience and we are definitely looking forward to organising another visit.

My friend and I enjoyed our stay in Harriet’s place. It’s suitable for family with young kids and beginners in camping. Fully equipped and environment, close to town centre with supermarkets, near to in many tourist attractions. Harriet and their family are easygoing and welcoming during our stay. We really recommend everyone to visit Harriet and her family to know her works and their animals.
Best stay ever ! loved it so much ❤️
We loooooved our stay at Harriet's farm. Absolutely stunning views, gorgeous horses around, friendly dogs and cows, breathtaking sunset n sunrise best to enjoy near the firepit, 8 mins to monbulk woolies n aldi n more shops to get gas n food. My two toddler boys enjoyed it the most as we had few acres for ourselves and all fenced. As a mother I enjoyed my time there since it was so safe. we had to open 4 gates to come to our tent, we chose that place cz its safe n beautiful and plenty of space for kids.
We have no words to explain our darling Harriet's hospitality towards us. She even gave us two big fat doonas cz its was cold at night. She let us use the barn fridge and baths and to charge our lights n phone in there. Since it was our first ever camping with kids, fully equipped spacious bathroom was a big thing to have and made our lives much more easier.
My 4yo got a horse riding lesson from Harriet once and then the next day from her daughter! Those were fantastic! My boy is now crying that he miss the horses and he absolutely wanna go back to the farm this second!
They have 13 horses, 2 cows,3 pigs, bunch of goats( didnt count😁) 3 chickens and so many wildlife around to see.
They have provided the firepit and there are lots of firewood around to gather.
if you are not into camping yet into farmlife n animals you can book their beautiful barn. its very well done and fully equipped!
We will definitely go back with our friends n family ❤️❤️❤️

Great experience with the children and all the animals on the farm. They absolutely had a ball riding the horses
We stayed in the bush land area and really enjoyed it, it was secluded and peaceful.
Outdoor toilet and shower were clean and it was great seeing all the animals roam freely.
Harriet was a lovely host.
Great peaceful area, fantastic camp site and Harriet couldnt do enough to help make it a wonderful experience.
