Camping with kids
We loved camping on this property with our RV. There were tons of easy hiking trails that were kid and dog friendly! The Lampasas River was a short easy drive from our camp site and was absolutely amazing. There were amazing lookouts on many of the trails with gorgeous views and we really enjoyed seeing so many of the exotic animals. We also ran into the goat herd that wanders the property. There is a big game feeder just a short walk up the road from the site and we brought our camp chairs and set them up a little ways across the road so we could watch the animals come in around dusk for feed. We also brought our bikes and there are a is a nice trail we found that was bike friendly and the road is also bike friendly with very little traffic. This morning we did an epic Easter egg Hunt for our kids down one one of the trails and around the property. Our 24ft camper fit comfortably on site 1 and we were easily able to get into it with our SUV towing and did not need 4-wheel drive. Site 2 is smaller and the trail is a bit rougher so when we book that site in the future we would bring our truck. Site 2 has a better view but is a tighter fit and less level than site 1. If it rains, I could see needing 4-wheel to get out of site 2. If you bring kids I recommend printing out a couple nature scavenger hunts, our kids had a blast doing them. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay here, it was so quiet and serene and very relaxing.
Overall we had a great experience, however the other campsite was within view which took away some of the privacy. It was really cool to see all the different exotics. Campsite 2 is definitely the more secluded site between the two that are available. Also be prepared for the heat! Was a much more of a hike to the river than expected and we couldn’t find a cut trail so it was a bit of a treacherous hike. Wouldn’t recommend the hike for small children and elderly as we are in our 20s in decent shape and we were struggling.
Amazing place to kick back & relax
Awesome property, never knew there was anything like it, Clear clear skies, amazing how many stars you can see. And all kinds of wildlife, the river area is nice to hang out, water is super clear. Can see every fish swimming around.
Great view! — rv/trailer only
Loved it! Site is for RV or Campers Only. No tents. Host responded quickly after we booked the site the day of the trip. Beautiful views. Although the piece of property is on a wild game ranch the site is very private and isolated and removed from any barns or homes. We didn't see another person the entire time we were there. It is situated on a ridge with wonderful expansive views. We enjoyed the wildlife, the sunset/sunrise, and the stars beside a crackling fire. A great quiet getaway. Would definitely come back. No water or electricity, but not an issue if you are prepared. There are two sites to choose from (one larger and flat and a smaller site that has a better view and a very slight grade. Thanks for the great experience.
The campsite and surrounding is gorgeous. All the exotic animals were a treat to observe. One of the quietest camp sites I've stayed at through Hipcam. Just the sounds of nature all around. We loved fishing the Lampasas river, lots of wade fishing available for fly fishermen.
Had a great time at sky view. Nice leveled and cleared out space beneath the stars. . Super quite and isolated which is so nice to get away to.
We came back with 0 mosquito bites and the smell of campfire on us. Thank you Dorian!
