Family-friendly
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
River Forest Haven is a unique space that seeks to bring you closer to nature. We do not artificially light the camp and we strive to leave as much of the property in its natural state as we can. This provides a unique experience that is not your typical campground as we keep all of our campsites tucked under lush natural canopies. Car and tent camping works great! For most sites, you can easily drive up to your spot. Arrive, take a look around and settle into your site. We are always happy to deliver any of our items from our general store- just message us on HipCamp and we will come by. With nearly half a mile of Colorado riverfront to swim, fish, toob, paddle-board, kayak, and canoe*, along with 30 acres to hike and explore, River Forest Haven is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Austin. THINGS OF NOTE: ⁃ cell phone service is mostly non-existent ⁃ firewood can be brought or bought, but not collected.

Will be back!
Our favorite hip camp spot we’ve ever used. Bathroom were ok and the trash cans overflowed but overall, staff was SO friendly and honestly just the whole experience was easy and effortless. Such a gem so close to Austin!! Highly recommend. One thing is forest sites do not have picnic sites. Our mistake for missing that.

The Bambi
We had a blast, the best night's sleep, and the most peaceful evening I had. A couple of things when getting to the site it was scary. If you use the link in Hip Camp, Google Maps wants go down through someone's backyard so don't. Just look up Hip Camp in Google Maps for the correct route. I pick the Bambi camper site. The site was amazing the camper is new and very clean. we had a few issues with the camper that the host quickly fixed, they offered us a free rental for tubing down the river which was nice. If you want somewhere out of the way and a quiet night go camping here.

My boyfriend and I had a great stay here!! We loved how secluded our site felt. It felt like we were staying in a little fairy oasis haha! We also walked around to the river and found it super pretty. We came back later in the night to stay, the signs made it easy to find our site again in the darkness. It was also close enough to travel back and forth to the city with ease. Definitely would recommend this spot!

Spring Break camping
The site was nice and staff were very friendly and helpful. The sites were a little too close to each other and if your neighbor does not respect the quiet hours, then you will hear them through the night. This happened on night 1 till 2am and then the next day from another site yelling and playing loud music. I love to camp to relax and unplug. We did go during spring break which I’m sure the reason it was packed, but I have been to a lot of hip camps and if I knew the sites were this close together I would have not selected the site.
