Are you looking for a secluded adventure? Is being remote a priority?  Then we are looking forward to  you camping with us! We are recently acknowledged Gold Star hosts! You won't just see the mountains at a far distance, but will be completely surrounded by mountain ranges!

What you need to know: -High clearance not always needed but recommended.

- Now with a 12' X 12' shade structure! This makes the camping more comfortable during the warm summer days.

- 360° panoramic views!

- You need good tires to safely get to the campsite. You will travel about 7 miles down dusty dirt roads to get to your campsite. These roads are maintained by Terlingua Ranch and can vary wildly from smooth 25 mph conditions to high clearance only with bad rains. Contact Brad if you have concerns about road conditions.

- Composting toilet. We've converted a brand new Porta-potty into a composting toilet. To keep it out of your sight it's a short walk away from the campsite.

- This campground is private and remote but conveniently located within 15-20 minutes of Terlingua Ranch Lodge and the Bad Rabbit Cafe. They are well stocked with great food, Wi-Fi, ice, beer, and other necessities.

- This is an off grid campground. If you are looking to unplug, this place is for you. Please remember to bring whatever you need for a complete boondocking experience, such as water, fuel, shade etc.

- You can view Mule deer, Javalina, lots of birds, and the unique desert plants.

- We strive to provide a campsite that is equal to, if not better, than the state and national park campsites.

 - This looks close to the park on the map, but there are mountains that you have to drive around to get to either entrance. The drive to the Study Butte entrance is about 1 hour (I make this drive 5 times a week). If you have 4X4 and high clearance you can get to the 385 entrance in about 1 hour 15 minutes. (Ask Brad about this route.)

- Best to arrive before dark.

- You have access to the amenities at Terlingua Ranch Lodge, located about 4 miles away. The Bad Rabbit Café serves good food. (Hours fluctuate with COVID and seasons, but in general are open 7 AM to 7 PM and as late as 9PM on the weekends). Also, during the summer you can buy a key from the Lodge to swim in the pool ($5/day). At the pool you can have a hot shower.

- If there's no burn ban, you may have a small fire. You can have use a camp stove to cook with during a fire ban.

- The owners home is located nearby, but out of sight. If you have an emergency, the house has a landline and other resources you might need.

If you've read this far and this doesn't scare you off, we are looking forward to hosting your camping adventure!

My boyfriend and I LOVED this spot! Very nice camp spot with amazing views! The hosts were very friendly and greeted us at arrival but gave us space and privacy throughout the stay! They graciously allowed us to hike on their land and we got to explore all its beauty!
We were so excited to see so much wildlife from the hike and the campspot (havelinas & deer)

You need to stay here! Don’t miss out ;) we can’t wait to come back!

Brad’s campsite was perfect and exactly the secluded get-away we hoped for. The bathroom he provided was extremely clean with zero bugs and no smell. Brad visited us the first night and provided all kinds of tips and trails about the area. The campsite was more than enough space for us and our two dogs. This site was perfect for us wanting to find trails to drive our jeep and even hike around. I suggest bringing a surface for dogs to stand and lay on if you’re bringing them, we learned the rocks were a little too hard on our house-pups feets. The cardboard box from our new tent was what we used. We only camped for three nights, but should have stayed three more. We will be back. If you’re looking for a private camping experience without park rangers or neighbor campers driving by, this is the perfect spot.

Perdido #1 is perfect. Bradley and his wife came up to say hello, while we were setting up. They are a wealth of knowledge and friendly. Make sure your tires are good and the spare tire is inflated. Then drive out to explore this beautiful part of the Big Bend. We did not see any other folks during our stay at camp. -The stars, good company & the mountains, are in store. We had a great time & saw the most spectacular sunset of my lifetime.

Our stay was perfect.

All we can say is wow... this was an amazing two night stay, an experience we will never forget. 100% will be back. Bradley and his wife were awesome hosts, came up the first night to introduce themselves and we had the pleasure of visiting with them for a while. Be prepared to fall in love with this camp spot, because you will not want to ever leave!

An incredibly gorgeous spot. It was a fun ride getting back there. Simply can’t beat the views! The owners were sweet enough to come by and introduce themselves and gave us some pointers for exploring the area. Great trip!

My first time to Big Bend area and Perdido was a great place to set up camp. Bradley was communicative and super helpful to make sure that I had the correct directions. The site is well situated, and even in the 90 degree heat in the late afternoon had a nice breeze to keep things cool.

I'll add the gravel road to the sites can be a bit rough but is totally manageable with care, even without a SUV. That said, I took a lifted 4Runner and took the alternate route to Big Bend per Bradley's suggestion. A LOT of fun - definitely for four wheel drive vehicles only, a little hairy at times but only one spot where I had to get out and scope it out. Overall, good folks, nice private spot - I'll be back in winter.

The view from this campsite is breathtaking! It’s secluded so that you don’t see or hear anyone around you but close enough to the host that you can feel comfortable if you need something. The hosts are the kindest people and very helpful with local tips and recommendations. The compost toilet is very clean! And there is a hiking trail right off the campsite that is so much fun to walk. The stars are amazing!! Can’t recommend it enough.
