Couldn’t access site - stuck in mud
We were 3 minutes away from our site when we got stuck in the mud on Camp Rd. The mud caused our vehicle to veer off the road and get stuck, and then we had to get towed out (the first two tow trucks called would not drive on the road due to the mud - only the the third tow truck called had 4WD and would help us). Once unstuck, we did not attempt to proceed to the site but instead decided to return home to Houston. On the way out on Camp Rd, the mud again caused our vehicle to veer off and get stuck, and the tow truck had to pull us out again. The Host refused to give a refund (the Manager knew of the poor road conditions and did not provide advance warning, nor did the site listing indicate that 4WD was required), but instead offered a free night in the future. We will not return, however, because there is no guarantee that road conditions will be better when we have the time to go camping.
Would not recommend this site.
My grandkids loved the freedom to run around, but it wasn’t worth the money. No one could meet us there, we were locked out of the cabin and I had to find keys and enter the owner’s house to get keys to the cabin. Since the power was off it took a complete day for the cabin to cool and the fridge to cool. Inside of cabin smelled bad. Beds did not have linen so it was good we had our sleeping bags. Refrigerator was full of mold. Couldn’t go kayaking or fishing. Took my grandkids to the river to fish anyway since it was what was offered online. Not a fish in site 😡. Left a day early so I lost money on the trip. Wouldn’t recommend this campsite to anyone.
Family friendly place
Ms. Patti was very kind and welcoming. The property has trails that lead you right to the river. It's roughly a 5-10 minute walk to the falls from camp. It's quiet and peaceful. If you're interested in kayaking the river, it's best to make those arrangements with Ms. Patti in advance. We enjoyed our time and plan on taking the whole family on a trip in the future!
Reconnecting with nature
We loved staying on Patti's land. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed walking to the river and listening to its sound bubbling over rocks. We also enjoyed being the only guests and having all the land to ourselves.
The cabin was very cute and had a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. We enjoyed having a simple weekend away from all the busy life and focusing on nature and ourselves.
Thank you Patti for your kindness and knowledge. We will be back!
Scenic river access, warm showers
These hosts were very accommodating to my 2 young children- even provided space heaters to keep our sleeping area warm when a cold front blew through. We had the BEST camping experience with great scenery, restrooms with warm showers, playing fetch with their charming dog, and a friendly host who was mindful of our space and so sweet to my children. We are looking forward to returning to this gem!
River access in 2 places. Indoor showers and toilet facilities were nice and clean. Cozy warm cabin. Hosts were ready and very accommodating. The dogs walked with us to sight see the river! Which we truly enjoyed. Kayaks there for rent. A Canoe and kayak paradise for sure! Oh! Take a look at the night stars. Worth it!
Our stay at the cabin was really wonderful. We arrived later than expected but the hosts were understanding and accommodating. Their dogs are so cute and friendly. The cabin looks just like the pictures and was comfortable, but the real gem in this listing is the outdoors. The pictures really didn't do it justice. Totally gorgeous. We saw, among other things, a bald eagle, a family of raccoons across the water, hummingbirds, and some kind of huge heron. The water was cool and nice, and there was an area away from the moving part of the current where we could swim without concern. We made a fire for hot dogs and smores, heard both an eastern screech owl and a great horned owl, and did some stargazing. When we left we were already talking about our next visit.
