Thank you for checking out Sandy Ridge Camping. (See google maps Sandy Ridge Pecans). We have six primitive camping spots providing privacy and serenity. All sites have a fire ring and picnic table. Site#1 is located in a clearing of trees and overlooks our small pond. Sites #2 and #3 have an open area that is surrounded by forest, which gives privacy and windbreak on windy days. Site #4 has woods on two sides, view to a pasture and pecan orchard. Site #4 is relatively close to the pond and 60 yrds from Site #1. Site #5 and #6 are along the forest and overlook a meadow. Running water and flushing toilet are near the farmhouse/greenhouse. Please bring potable water and be prepared to take away all your trash. You are welcome to refill your canisters at the spigot that is next to the Big Pecan Tree by the farm house (well water). Please make special note that the flushable toilet is near the farmhouse/greenhouse.
The campsites are in proximity to an operational pecan nursery with only the manager and his family residing on the property. You can enjoy wooded walking paths in the 80 acre forest and pastures, ponds and wildlife, including deer, wild hogs, hawks, owls, roadrunners, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds and many other species of birds. Small mammals such as armadillos, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen, and the property is also awesome for star gazing. Please watch out for snakes, scorpions , pesky mosquitoes and ticks. They were very friendly and make us feel welcome. At night it was getting very cold and they didnt mind to brought us some wood when it was pretty late and im appreciated for that!
What a lovely spot! Everything was well maintained and the picnic table is always a huge bonus for us with the kids. Our small trailer navigated the roads fine and ingrid was great helping us find our spot after dark.
So many stars in the night sky
Property was well kept and there is a few very long trails. Me and my friends had alot of fun and definitely enjoyed getting away from the city. The highlight was the view of the starry night sky. Being from the city, all the light pollution drowns out the sky for stargazing but at Sandy Ridge Camping, we could spot satellites in orbit! The abundance of stars and the tree tops made a beautiful canvas to fall asleep too.
Great getaway close to dallas
Sandy Ridge Camping was a great weekend escape. Fun for the whole family kids and dog included. Great secluded tent site with a picnic table. Perfect place for a short getaway to have a night under the stars. Added plus that you can buy firewood when you arrive to check-in. Would highly recommend.
Back to nature to the max!
Everything we expected and more for our first hipcamp experience. Enjoyed fishing in the beautiful pond and hiking the trails throughout the property. So close to I20 but far enough off the beaten path to enjoy the quiet, secluded, back to nature relaxation experience. Loved it at Cody & Ingrid's "Sandy Ridge Camping!"
