Yurt Island glamping is located at Southeast Outdoor Adventure Center (SOAC) in Bowman, SC.  SOAC is an outdoor gathering facility that hosts 6-8 outdoor races per year (such as trail runs, OCRs, Cross Fit competitions, mountain biking, etc).  SOAC is located less than 15 minutes from the I-95/I-26 interchange.

Yurt Island glamping is tucked away on 120 acres of SOAC property.  Once you have used the key pad to enter the property, follow the map and drive to Yurt Island parking, then walk ~150 feet onto the island where your glamping experience awaits.  The half acre island is surrounded by trees and a 15 ft wide body of water…don’t worry, it’s only 1-3 ft deep (depending upon the time of year).

The glamping Yurt has a queen-size bed and other furnishings.  (If you have kids or other campers joining, please bring sleeping bags for additional people...bed sleeps two, maximum # of campers allowed in Yurt is 4.)  There is indoor lighting, but other electricity has been thoughtfully deleted…don’t stress about charging your phone, you’re here to enjoy nature and disconnect (Facebook and Instagram can wait a day or two)!  The exterior landscape lighting will enhance your relaxation and enjoyment of the peaceful “island” life around your campfire.  Starter firewood is provided, if you need more it can be found around SOAC. Bathrooms and showers are a short walk from the island.

To embrace the island life, heating and a/c are not a part of the glamping experience.  But, honestly, it is quite pleasant…with the exception of the dead of summer, which is when the heat can make the his & hers dipping pools a really refreshing hangout for Yurties.  During the hottest of hot weeks a fan is placed in the yurt. Be sure to bring your own linens (sheets, towels, pillows, etc.) or sleeping bags to satisfy your preferred level of comfort.

Other campsites/RV sites are available if you have a group to accommodate, and you’ll have acres of nature in which to explore and recharge.   Come alive outside at SOAC!

We had a wonderful stay, the yurt was comfortable and had all the amenities for cooking over the fire. The best part was definitely the outdoor water tubs, which you could lounge in during the evening, while looking up at the moon.

We had such a fun time at SOAC! The Yurt was amazing and had all the creature comforts we needed, but still felt like camping. My kids loved having a snack bar close by, and we all enjoyed the walking trails and fishing ponds. Our host Alan was very accommodating and friendly. We will definitely stay again!

If you want a quiet getaway definitely recommend it. The only problem we had was that the bathroom was a walk besides that bring bug spray and enjoy this beautiful location and home.

Great Yurt and position - excellent facilities. Make sure you bring your own sheets and towels, plates etc. This would be an excellent place to stay if it also had a fridge

Another amazing Hipcamp experience. Allen was friendly to work with and gave great directions and advice. The yurt is well appointed with seating, grills, even a coffee pot as well as bug spray, tongs, and more! The soaking tubs were awesome!

Alan was an amazing and responsive host, the yurt was amazing and very nicely kept! If you arrive at night it can be a little difficult to navigate but just trust the signs!

The Yurt itself was very comfortable, but was surprised to find how the “campground” leaves much to be desired. There is a single bathhouse that took us awhile to find. There were signs, but not super obvious. The campgrounds are better described as personal property that you are allowed to camp on. If you want to camp at an underused activity camp, just know that is the expectation instead of a campground.
