Great way to ease into camping!
We took my husband camping here this weekend for his first camping experience and it was a great way to ease him into it without scaring him with our tent- lol! It was chilly out and having the cabin helped keep us a bit warmer (though it was still cold). It was simple but worked for what we needed. I loved the flood light outside so it didn't get so dark. Plenty of fallen wood to use for the fire too. The bathroom was a little hike to get to but was pretty nice and well maintained.
My biggest gripe was with the air mattresses on the beds- I understand the ease of use and easier to keep them clean- but the queen one on my bunk was maybe halfway inflated. When I asked about getting a pump I was just told to "blow in the hole without putting my mouth on it" which seemed like a joke tbh haha. The man with the pump wouldn't be back until later on. It would have been nice if someone came out at any point to check and see if we had resolved the issue but we never saw a soul. So maybe bring your own battery operated pump just in case!
There's also a fair amount of road noise, especially at night, and we could hear some shouting and carrying on from what I assume we're neighboring homes.
All that said, I'd still stay here again. It was an overall pleasant camping experience!
Great getaway from busy life
As always, great camping experience on this property. This was our 2nd time staying here. We plan to return around fall. This is our getaway from our busy life and the city. You can definitely connect with nature here. The cabin was simple. Nothing crazy but it has all you need. A bed and a couch. Alan does a great job communicating. Definitely recommend this location.
Family spring break trip
We enjoyed the exploring the beautiful property. It was so quiet and peaceful during our stay. Our boys enjoyed exploring with their bikes. We had a fire every morning and night to cook food. The bathrooms were sufficient and an easy, short walk from our cabins. Cabin #2 has mattresses that were pretty comfortable. We wore ourselves out kayaking so we slept well. Thank you!
Absolutely loved our stay! I had been looking at these cabins for a few months considering a trip to Congaree National Park. Although we did not travel with the dogs this trip, it's always a bonus when there is a dog-friendly option.
We were planning a girls weekend where a few of us could meet in the middle to travel equal distance. This was the spot! Seems like it was a slower season now so it was quiet, peaceful and private.
Enjoyed leaning back in our chairs and looking up through the trees at the stars during our campfire nights. The cabin was tidy and some informational guides left for us. The bonus of having the water spigot at our cabin was awesome for cleaning our dishes.
The entire property was SO.COOL. They had been decorating for a Halloween event as well so we appreciated the decor sprinkled around. This is only about an hour away and I intend to visit again soon!
It would be super neat to have a group go and rent a few of the cabins for the same weekend if all available.
I loved the area - especially the gorgeous trees - that the cabin is situated in. By chance, we were able to stay in a cabin with real mattresses - a major plus! Loved the picnic tables and fire pit w wood already stocked. That said, it *was* super rustic … we slept with bandanas over our faces because there were many bugs! Would be nice to have a fan… or advance suggestion from the hosts to bring one! We stayed in September, but there was no circulation and it was quite hot. Loved the picturesque walk to the bathrooms :) Also nice to have a shower after a long road trip…!
Simple cabin for our family
We had a quick and easy stay at the Rustic Cabin. We were driving from OBX to Destin and needed a place (not too far off the highway) to stop halfway. Alan provided us with excellent directions so we had no problems. The cabin was simple and exactly as pictured. We stayed at the end of July, so a ceiling fan would've been luxurious, but it cooled off by morning. Overall a great place to stay!
