Tent campites on the Intercoastal Waterway overlooking the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. This is a nature lovers dream. We offer primitive campsites that have access to communal water sources, power, restrooms, and shower facilities. Our campground has a full length basketball court, Pickleball Court, and swings for your enjoyment. You will have access to a floating dock for launch of kayaks into the Intracoastal Waterway. If you do not have your own kayak, we always have them for rent. There is easy access to the iconic Awendaw Passage of the Palmetto Trail, which runs directly through the property and offers hiking and off-road biking opportunities. If you love to set up hammocks, we encourage that on our many majestic Oaks and Palmettos around the property. There are also many offsite activities in the surrounding area that you can enjoy.
Please refer to the park map in the photos.
The Flushing Toilets, Showers, and Water source is located at the Conference Center area of the property (there are portable toilets at waterfront). You will need to bring something to store your water in. Power access is at the Conference Center and a single access point at the waterfront. You can easily drive between the waterfront camping area and the Conference Center.
You can drive directly to the sites and park. We do allow camper vans and small popup tents/campers. We do not have hookups at each site so you will need to plan accordingly. Anything over 20 feet is not allowed.
Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. There is a communal area at the end of dock for everyone to enjoy. The swings and basketball/pickleball court is for everyone as well (basketballs, pickleball equipment, soccer balls, footballs, and other recreation equipment are provided).

It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful along the water’s edge. Sunrises made me want to stay longer. The day before we got there our camping neighbors sited dolphins at play less than 30 yards away. We hoped to see them but only saw the video taken the day before. Large sites. More attention should be given to the port-a-potties. They were in pretty stinky shape when we got there. Would be nice to have the road graded all the way to the campground. We we definitely stay again if given the opportunity.
Beautiful views from the campsites on the water! Like the other reviews state, you do need to bring bug spray and likely reapply. Having a campfire going also helped with the mosquitoes. There’s a really nice community grill by the dock. Communication was excellent and we enjoyed kayaking in the Awendaw Creek!
Overall experience was very enjoyable. Upon arrival, our camp site was supposed to be directly next to a large group of kids on one side and the communal dock on the other which meant the boys were walking through our campsite continuously. I called Jay and he immediately moved us to another site which was much better. Most of the sites are not private at all (no trees between sites) but camp site 1 was more secluded and had some privacy. Free firewood on site but would recommend bringing a saw to cut it. We saw dolphins and deer, swam, and had a great fire. Our dogs had a great time too.
We had such a lovely stay! The campsite was very peaceful and we loved looking at all the wildlife in the channel in the morning. We would stay here again for sure and recommend it to our friends!
Solo female traveler
This property is amazing. Very clean and easy to navigate. I visited on a week day and there were only a few other campers so I had plenty of space and privacy. I always add another guest while booking for safety reasons but as solo female traveler i felt 100% safe. I cruised the lake in one of thier boats and watched the dolphins swim by the water front in the morning as i enjoyed my morning cup of tea. I will definitely be back!
Just as i had hoped it would be
This camping area is beautiful. Alongside the Intercoastal Waterway. "Basic" amenities such as picnic table...fire pit...nice flat ground and shade from trees.
Not a "glamping" or big rv site in my view. Laid back..simple...off the grid feeling. Some amenities such as showers may be hard to find without assistance....
overall a great nature experience.
Dolphins in the bay
We saw dolphins both mornings!
Choice of 15 Shady campsites. Some Waterfront, some set back a bit. Bring lots of mozzie spray.
Showers water and toilets are fine just a fair walk away - we drove!! There are two Porta potties on site too which is handy.
It's a gorgeous spot. Watch out for fire ants!!
