Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
Ski resort
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is renowned for its challenging terrain and deep powder snow, with an average snowfall of about 7 meters per season. The skiing season usually runs from early December to mid-April. The resort is particularly famous for its advanced and expert terrain, featuring steep chutes, large alpine bowls, and gladed areas. While it is known for its extreme terrain, there are also suitable runs for beginners and intermediates. The resort does not have a terrain park, but it does offer access to backcountry areas for experienced skiers and riders. There are no cross country trails, night skiing, or snow tubing areas at Kicking Horse. The lift system includes a gondola and multiple chairlifts that provide access to over 120 marked runs. The views from the resort are spectacular, with vistas of the Rocky Mountains, the Columbia River, and the Purcell Mountains. Kicking Horse is considered more of an adventure-oriented resort than a family-centric one, but it does offer a range of activities such as ice skating, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. There are no designated sledding areas within the resort.
