Eastern oregon cabin in the desert
Tina was such a friendly and helpful host! we arrived late afternoon and the cabin was all ready with a/c on in the nearly 100 degrees heat! beds were comfy and it was cool to have a kitchen. the lack of sink was a bit weird, but Tina let us bring dishes to them to wash which was very nice! there were a lot of bugs, but we got more savvy our second night with keeping them out. store had wood and ice, and lots of necessities if needed. we didn't try the restaurant. it was quiet at night, beautiful sunsets and lots of stars!
Birder's paradise glamping!
The cabin was lovely. Clean, plenty of room, well equipped. Beds were clean and comfy. Would have loved to have a sink/running water, but there are restrooms/showers very close by and they stock the cabin full of water. It is glamping, after all 😉 The owner and staff had great customer service and were very friendly, down to earth people. We were there to bird Malheur and found plenty right in and around the campground, even! There was a burrowing owl in the mounds east of the cabin and a common poorwill heard at night. I enjoyed sitting by the fire outside while watching Western kingbird and say's phoebe flycatching in the early evening. Mourning doves, western tanagers, cliff swallows, and loggerhead shrike greeted us in the mornings. I'll definitely be coming back.
Tina and Scott (and all staff) are fantastic. You forget how much a host can enhance or drag an experience. Tina was a one woman show and always a smile and friendly greeting. I will be telling all my friends that the middle of nowhere in Oregon is the place to be!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Narrows Cabin, and wished we could have stayed longer. The cabin is lovely, comfortable, and had everything we needed--along with many thoughtful extras. The area is quiet, beautiful and expansive. Tina is a wonderful host!
Clean and peaceful!
My son and I enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was clean and peaceful. The bathrooms were also very clean. The entire staff was so friendly. The only issue we had was that it does get very hot, even with the AC unit. Fortunately it cooled down at night. We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at The Narrows Cabin. It was clean and comfortable. The biggest plus is how close it was to the refuge, to French Glen and the area. There is a restaurant there, but there was no posting of hours open. We had hoped to have a breakfast on our last day there. We waited till 9:00 am, but nothing was open. We were able to make our meals in the kitchen area, but were glad we prepared food ahead of time. Beds are nice, and we would go again.
