Pitch your tent or bring your small camper and set up in our quiet and secluded Aspen grove located at one end of our private meadow. Our property is a 100 acre working homestead farm, with 80 of those acres available to you for hiking and exploration. The campsite is just a 10 minute walk up to the OC&E trail line, which offers some 60 miles of graveled trail for hiking or biking. Take in the beauty of Southern Oregon!

We are located just 5 miles from the small town of Sprague River, which offers a small convenience store and gas station. Crater Lake is just over an hour away, as are the Lava Beds. The city of Klamath Falls and Klamath Lake are 45 minutes away and offer many dining, shopping and recreating options.

A trashcan will be provided for you, but please be prepared to bury or pack out any other wastes. Fire danger is still very high. We have recently added a communal composting toilet; please follow instructions in the outhouse. A small tank of potable water is available on request. Pets okay, but please keep them under control at all times as we employ Livestock Guardian Dogs on a portion of the property.

Nice little area but unfortunately a little too much night noise with multiple barking dogs all night

We ended up backing out last-second due to a fire in the area. But Nikki was very friendly and accommodating throughout.

Spent one glorious night in the Aspen Grove. What a peaceful place to spend a night. You are literally out in the middle nowhere. Nikki is a fantastic communicator. We reached out a couple of days before our stay to ask about the Bootleg Fire and the presence of smoke. She replied within minutes and indicated the wind was blowing towards the east which meant away from Aspen Grove. We were skeptical at first thinking she could have been sugar coating the situation so we wouldn’t cancel. To our delight the conditions were exactly as Nikki described them. We had star filled sky and stayed up late star gazing. Oh I almost forgot be sure to take the fresh bread and fresh eggs add on. We are still enjoying the bread.

The property was beautiful, but quite a far drive from the main road. We made the mistake of arriving after dark, had to drive a long distance through dirt roads to the campsite, then realized we were the only people staying there. Definitely our fault for arriving so late, but all the factors made for a nervous night!

Response from Nikki, the Host, on July 20th, 2021

The distance from the road is noted in the directions, and the sites are 1/4 mile apart. I'm not sure why any of that would have made you nervous, or why you decided to leave a poor review based on points you noted as being your fault. At no point did you reach out to your hosts either.

We thoughouly enjoyed our night in the Charming Aspen Grove; room for the kids to run and explore, a beautiful sunset, spectacular stars, and, best of all, away from it all. I was very glad I downloaded the instructions before hand, as there was spotty cell service. I am also glad we ordered some of Nikki's delicious homemade bread (yummy), delivered to our campsite fresh out of the oven. We were pleasantly surprised to awaken with cows and calves grazing around the campsite (my kids will be talking about this for years!)

Friendly morning visitorsCampsite from the hill just past the campsite.

Relatively easy to find and it felt like we had the whole area to ourselves, even with another pair staying at a nearby site. They provide a fire pit, so we were able to enjoy one despite the area's dry conditions - being able to have wood provided was def worth it. Clean composting outhouse, and the stars were absolutely beautiful at night. I'll definitely be saving this one for the next time I head up for hiking at Crater Lake NP.

More than enough space to spread outYou can't hardly even see the other campsite from here

This place was exceptional. We were a bit weirded out because it seemed like the middle of nowhere, and we almost didn’t catch the road to turn onto (it didn’t immediately show on Google Maps). The open space was wonderful for our tents, and since we stayed for multiple days, Nikki was totally fine with us leaving our tents out. That was a huge convenience. The hammock set up was nice (with the add-on, of course). The firewood was such little cost to have things set up. That was the nicest outhouse I’ve ever personally used. And the stars were serene, we saw several shooting stars each night.

Highly recommend this spot. I would just recommend to people going here to 1.) download the Google Maps offline, it’ll save you, and 2.) make sure your vehicle is okay on a bit of a rough dirt road. That was my only real complaint, just that we didn’t know how rough the road would be. Fortunately I had a high suspension minivan so I didn’t care, but I’d be prepared if your vehicle is too low clearance or if you want to completely avoid scratches from small rocks.
