It is peaceful, 5/5 stars!
Site is lovely, right on the creek and down the dead end Fish Hatchery road, so there is little traffic. There is no power but there is water across the road. The 'composting' toilet/outhouse is a nice touch and we appreciated the cleanliness. There is a nice fire ring for use in season (there was a fire ban during our stay). Check out Mary's Peak nearby, the hike from the meadow is better than the short one from the top parking lot. We saw a mink across the creek and the sound of the rippling water was the best part.
Loved camping here. The hosts were friendly, and helpful telling us about the swimming hole up the road and the small store in Alsea in case we needed anything.
As mentioned in other reviews, though the road was only a few feet from our campsite the traffic was hardly noticeable. My husband and I are already planning on coming back again next year.
Perfect riverside campsite!
We loved the Peaceful Riverside campsite. Tucked just off the road and right next to the river we had everything we needed for a three night getaway. We beat the heat by wading in the river and swimming in the nearby swimming hole. We’re definitely coming back!
Truly a “peaceful riverside”
Bill was helpful on the phone and his son-in-law was a perfect host—explained everything and gave me a great tip about Mary’s Peak! It was nice to be able to pull right in off the road to find the camp spot under large alder trees. The music of the little river put me right to sleep and was a perfect spot for a morning rinse. All amenities as stated. If you’re particular about your water, you might want to bring your own. Although potable water was available, it was from a giant plastic container sitting in the sun. I respected the no fire ban. Next time I’ll try out the large fire grill!
