Enjoy the private tranquility of the Cascade Mountains in this beautiful rural Dry-RV (no hook-ups, no amenities, no toilet site.) woodlands setting amidst trees and trails. Great for travelers who need a private place to park their fully self-contained home-on-wheels while traveling to Crater Lake National Park and the scenic Rogue-Umpqua area of the Cascades. Only 26 miles from the NP south entrance (on the Prospect desirable side of the NP) and most likely the closest private RV spot. 2 miles outside of the little town of Prospect, 2 miles to the Rogue River (fishing and rafting), 2 miles to 3 waterfalls, 6 miles to Lost Creek Lake (boating and recreation), plus an abundance of hiking trails in nearby local area.
After viewing the amazing star-filled night skies, fall into a deep relaxed sleep and wake up to birds singing, enjoy your coffee and a nature walk. This serene and quiet RV spot consists of an open space nestled in beautiful mixed woodlands of mature doug fir, cedar, pine and madrone on our 100 acre ranch. (You won’t see our house or barn since this RV spot is on the other side of the property and away from the Ranch activity). It’s DRY, no power hookups. Your RV must be fully self-contained. Your own toilet is a must. Be prepared to “Pac-in, pack-out.” This is a protected wilderness area. There’s a mix of sun and shade depending on the exact spot (within the designated area) you choose and the time of day. At approximately 2600 ft elevation, a fresh gentle breeze significantly cools the late afternoon and evening summer temperatures. Most cell service carriers do get reception at this location, however, there is no WIFI. This can be a pull-through-and-around area. A long RV/trailer may need to make a y turn.
Short distance nature trails in the adjacent woodlands can be enjoyed in the immediate area. You will be alone in this no-frills spot. Just you and nature and your RV home. There are only two completely private designated RV spots (separated by acreage) on our property. Check out our other site "Turtle Pond Dry RV" site.

On the way to the turtle pond...
We needed to add a 3rd night to our stay, which wasn't available at the Meadow site, so moved to the Turtle Pond site on the same property. We did however pass by this site- it's a lovely, open, sunny meadow area surrounded by trees on 3 sides. It's not large but we have a 32' motorhome and would have fit here. You could easily walk down to and around the Turtle Pond. Daniel & Barbara are excellent hosts.
Perfect stay on our way
So peaceful and lovely to see a healthy, diverse forest. Daniel was kind and answered our questions promptly. Quiet and clean, we wished we could stay longer.
This is an absolutely beautiful ranch. The meadow is as advertised, and was very clean and private. The host was easy to communicate with, and the time there was brilliant.
This site was just as described. We stayed here our first night, then stayed at the Turtle Pond site (same property, different site). It was quiet, well kept, and the owner was very receptive to all questions. During our stay, we only saw one other person while they were driving past. Needless to say, it’s very private. I would 100% stay here again.
What a beautiful and peaceful place to land. The site is very private and at first might seem like just an outlet on a path, but the beauty of the place is a slow reveal. I loved sitting in the forest with my children listening to all the life on the pond. It felt special, sacred and wonderful. Thank you. We would come back again.
Great overnight stay at daniel’s
Daniels’s campsite was as expected. Both sites were nicely secluded off the highway amongst the trees, and one near a beautiful pond. It was a nice ample space for our 21’ sprinter van with a clean picnic table and two sturdy Adirondack chairs. There was no road noise at night. Daniel was excellent with his communication and directions, and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with him at camp. This is a great location especially when the local state recreation areas are full. Daniel suggested we visit the local waterfalls, which are a must see in the area. We would happily stay here again when traveling.
Stay here! We spent 2 nights here with our dogs. It was an easy drive up to Crater Lake for the day. Had we stayed at our site we would not have seen another person for the entire time we were there. However, Dan was very responsive to texts. You can tell that he is a true steward of the land. Katydid Ranch is a little slice of heaven.
It was very nice and private. From the photos it looked like it was a big meadow, it was not. It was a large turnout off the drive. Very private, no traffic, quiet, but it was different than expected. Also a little pricey for no water, no toilets. Host was helpful - but no face to face connection (but this is Covid time ! ). The spot close to the pond is beautiful, but also just a turnout next to a road.
