The Cocoon Cabin
The Cocoon Cabin is a small DIY off-grid shed cabin in the woods with a sleeping loft (one double bed and one single) and a working fireplace for cozy outdoor adventures in all seasons. This space is a passion project that my husband and I first began in 2019 and we have been working on, adding to it little by little to create a peaceful woodland escape.

This space is a passion project that my husband and I first began in 2019 and we have been working on, adding to it little by little to create a peaceful woodland escape.
We wouldn't go quite so far as to call it 'glamping' - after all we have no Wifi on site, no laundry or running water etc. But if you're looking to level up your camping experience a bit this might be the spot for you!
WORK IN PROGRESS:
It is still being completed so bear with us with the state of the ceiling and other imperfections. There is no working electricity at this spot, we have a solar powered battery you can use to charge small devices and to work a set of lights throughout the evening hours - but you can also opt to totally disconnect and enjoy the stars and candlelight.
FEATURES:
A tranquil forest surrounds the area with lots of wildlife to watch including birds, rabbits, deer, raccoons, groundhogs, toads and much more. Fireflies in the early summer months are a must-see along with the sounds of turkeys in the spring and coyotes occasionally howling in the distance. A large campfire area and easy walking trails to the Thames River make this a perfect little getaway from city life.
The Cocoon Cabin has utensils, plates/cups and some basic cookware inside for your use. There is also a small stash of some culinary basics like salt/sugar/coffee/herbs etc and a first aid kit should you need it.
INCLUDED:
One dry bunch of wood is included in your booking price as well as access to the canoe. If you are staying for multiple nights, depending on the temperatures, we suggest adding on one bag of firewood for each additional night you stay with us. **Please add bed linens onto your booking if you do not plan to bring your own sleeping bags.**

My boyfriend and I booked the trip for a night out of the city and we got exactly that and so much more. Once you get down to the cabin there is so much private space and wild life.. truly beautiful. The cabin was absolutely perfect. The loft upstairs is the perfect size and the bed is very comfortable. There is trails out back leading down to the river and there was signs so you know your going the right way, we came early may so the trees haven’t bloomed yet but we can only imagine how much more gorgeous it will be but even now it feels like your walking through a valley in your own oasis. Abby was so kind and helpful, extremely accommodative and made sure we had everything we needed. She made us feel like this was our own property as well and we were so grateful she shared it with us. We will absolutely be back very soon!!!
Thank you so much Abby for making our night out of the city a dream come true!

This is an absolutely perfect spot to get away. The cabin is tucked away on the property with complete privacy and an immense amount of open space for relaxing by the fire, taking a walk around down to the river, or just relaxing in the sun. There were bean bag toss boards set-up when we arrived which was a fun activity in the afternoon sun. The option of having both a fire in the stove in the cabin and in the firepits outside was perfect and made for a very enjoyable experience. Cabin had all the necessities required for a great time, with enough kitchen equipment to cook up a nice meal over the fire. Abby was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy this piece of their property. Would definitely return for another get-a-way and highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from the everyday and enjoy some serenity.
We had an amazing one night stay at the cocoon cabin. It was very cozy and convenient for someone who’s looking for something cabin stay in forest but not too far from London. Definitely recommend the place! Abby was a wonderful host!
My partner and I were at the Cocoon Cabin for a short visit back in October. We knew we had to return for a longer stay and so we finally did. Abby has created a beautiful, comfortable and warm space inside the cabin. We felt welcomed and at home. One evening in the clear air I lay in the hammock looking up at the stars and it was amazing. Another evening we fell asleep to the sound of an owl in the trees. These experiences are not ones that can be had in the city.
Amazing little get away can't complain about anything will forsure be back
We're looking to book every season!
We loved our time in the Cocoon Cabin. I was with my wife, daughter and 2 dogs. Very dog friendly and there's a huge dog bed in the cabin.
The cabin gives you that feeling of remoteness. One could easily unplug and disconnect. We spent alot of (amazing) time exploring the trails around the cabin and the river. That being said, spending time inside the cabin was equally amazing. The wood stove was perfect and kept us warm in our relatively "warm" December stay. The cabin has some basic cookware and utensils as well. We have a few powerbanks ourselves but the cabin is "powered" by a Goal Zero portable power station. I believe it could give you up to 50 phone charges or so before it goes dead. There are LED lights during the night but we opted to go with the candles provided along with the ones we brought. The Vegan touches made my wife and daughter happy.
As a host, Abby was such a warm and welcoming presence. We will be back for sure.
Absolutely loved this little getaway close to home! My husband and I were able to disconnect from the hustle of everyday life. It was the perfect one night recharge. We got to enjoy an outdoor fire on a cool day
and we stayed nice and cozy at night with the wood stove. We really enjoyed the overall cozy vibe of the cabin. We would definitely come back again!

So glad you guys had a lovely time - thanks for visiting and sharing pics! :D
This is the coziest little home away from home to relax in! The cabin is well-equipped and Abby was so helpful in making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. My partner & I really enjoyed walking around the little trails on the property and admiring the nature surrounding us. Looking forward to spending more time here in the future!

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving such a kind review Leila! :)
I had a great stay in the Oak Den. I was in the area to do some recording at the studios at Fanshawe College and I was looking to make the trip a little getaway in addition to a business occasion. The cabin was a perfect place to relax, create, and be still. Abby and Cam were super welcoming and accomodating and were happy to lend a hand if I needed it, but at the same time were really good about letting me have my space. They were kind enough to let me shoot a part of a music video there as well on my checkout day. Thanks guys, will be back if I'm ever around!
