Welcome to your private cabin with forest trails and stars at night! Privacy and wildlife only an hour from Toronto and less than 45 minutes from Brampton, Orangeville, Guelph, Cambridge, Milton, and Kitchener-Waterloo. The cabin has a queen-size bed and cozy living room. Open-air kitchenette on the covered porch with propane camp stove and basic kitchen supplies. Forest courtyard with fire pit, cooking grill and picnic table. 20-second walk to a VERY clean and private outhouse. Cabin is solar powered. Electricity for lights and phone charging. Firewood and water for drinking and washing all included. The forest cabin has walls made of straw bales covered with plaster. It feels like you're inside an adobe building in southwest USA. Deep window sills with curved corners. Built in 2002, it's one the first straw bale buildings in Ontario. It's as gorgeous today as the day it was built! Our 50-acre slice of heaven has it a bit of everything for your private retreat. Trails, forests, fields, meadows, rolling hills, and panoramic views. We live at the front of the farm property, pretty far from the cabin. So you have privacy, but we're available by text or phone if you need us. Want some quiet time? Looking for a slow down space? Kick back in the cabin or take stroll on the quiet forest trails. Interested in local food? Explore our organic vegetable fields, check out the greenhouses, or hang out with our happy chickens and sheep. Ready for a unique dinner experience? Rent the pizza oven in the courtyard of our little community centre, just a two-minute stroll from your hidden cabin. Looking for local fun and adventure? GoodLot Brewery, Heartwood Cidery, and other local attractions are just a short drive away. We are looking forward to your visit!Welcome to your private cabin with forest trails and stars at night! Firewood and water for drinking and washing all included. On one side of the cabin is a pristine provincially-protected cedar forest wetland. On the other side are rolling hills sprinkled with gorgeous veggie fields, hedgerows, and pastureland. We are at the headwaters of the Credit River. At the top of the property, you can see for miles. Trails connect all the wonders of the property - glorious sunsets, forest walks, wide open fields, nature exploration, foraging, wildlife sightings, and a creek that runs year-round in the upland forest at the back of the property.  Our region boasts amazing cycling for road bikes, the nearby Elora-Cataract trail, quaint shops in the Village of Erin, excellent hiking, local craft breweries, cideries, and more.  No plumbing - water for kitchen and washing is supplied by jugs (potable water) and a rain barrel for washing dishes (in warmer months).

Forest Cabin
Forest cabin realness! NAILED IT!
This property is absolutely stunning! The photos do not do it justice. We stayed at the beginning of March and while the weather was quite mild, the wood stove was required to keep us nice and toasty. All firewood, drinking water, cooking utensils, camp stove, bedding all provided, which made our load to pack extremely light. The cabin itself is absolutely amazing with so much charm and character. The outhouse is next level in cleanliness. I was floored! Absolutely smell free! Gavin was highly responsive to our messages (albeit we didn’t have many!) This cabin was completely private and secluded from the main house, which is at top of property. This was one of my favourite glamping trips so far. If you want a cabin off grid with all the bells and whistles, this is your private getaway! Thank you Everdale Forest Cabin! Absolutely fanfreakentatic! We will be back!

Loved the cabin!
I loved being at the straw-bale cabin. The cabin is tucked into the woods and feels so private and restorative. The fire was warm inside and I loved cooking outside. I’ll return again!

Forest Cabin
Very quiet and peaceful spot
The Strawbale cabin was awesome! The property was idyllic, quiet and beautiful. It felt very private, as we were the only people there, and this was one of my favourite things about our weekend. The cabin is tucked into a quiet corner of the property away next to a forest. The structure itself was clean, cool during the heat of the day, and held in the heat at night. It is very thoughtfully furnished; it was homey, clean, with nice furniture and a bed. Felt much more glamp-y than most cabins I have stayed in. The outdoor kitchen was very convenient for meals. The outhouse was very clean with no odour. This place also includes firewood and water in the price, so overall, we found this to be an excellent value. It was only a 5 minute drive to the nearest grocery store/LCBO, if you need to get ice, supplies or boozes. The hosts were so kind and gracious and Gavin patched me up after an unfortunate incident with a shifty vegetable peeler. The cabin is on the property of a not for profit farm that is doing some very important work. Everything about the cabin was very thoughtfully put together for a great experience. If you do decide to stay, do not miss out on the farm fresh veggies and sausages. My partner and I would love to come back, and I would highly recommend it without hesitation.

Forest Cabin
Gavin was a great host for us at the strawbale cabin— the property was beautiful and evidently the place of some really meaningful ecological work. The cabin was cozy and warm even in the cold of December, with its wood stove. We really enjoyed bundling up and cooking in the outdoor kitchen, complete with a roof for when it rained. It was so lovely to wake up to the trees in the forest and the sounds of squirrels and birds.

Perfect Peaceful Weekend
Had an amazing stay at The Straw Bale cabin. The property is beautiful, private and quiet. Loved cooking in outdoor kitchen. If the Harvest box is an option- take it! Nothing like eating farm fresh potatoes, carrots, onions and eggs. No electricity not issue as heat was provided by wood stove and solar lights. Nicest “outhouse” I’ve ever used! :)
