Heartwood has always welcomed friends to experience the joys of a regenerative farm life -- our overnight farmstay program offers an adult retreat experience (check out our website to learn about our day experiences -- some family-friendly).
In 2017, we opened a small, artisanal cidery on our farm. When you arrive, we’ll give you a warm Heartwood welcome, invite you for a glass of cider on the woodland patio, and provide enough of a farm orientation to be able to create your own adventure. Cuddle the piglets, explore our woodland and pasture trails, hang out in the barn for some farmyard therapy, pick fruit while walking the forest garden labyrinth, and if you're curious about the life of a farmer, tag along with Val to do the chores and dig deeper into the wonder of regenerative agriculture.
We have three separate sites for our canvas platform tents. Sunrise Suite and Orchard Oasis are nestled between our pastures and orchards, offering farm life immersion. Spruce Sanctuary offers more seclusion and privacy in one of our farm's woodland zones. All of our tents come fully furnished with a super-comfy queen-sized bed, bedside tables, and furnished patio. You will have access to a well-equipped outdoor kitchen and neat and tidy outhouse. There is also a fire-pit, with firewood supplied at your site for your evening campfire and stargazing. Please note that each of the tent sites is a modest walk from it's parking spot -- you'll have access to a dedicated Gorilla Cart wagon to help you get your gear to where you need it!

Camping at Heartwood was a fantastic experience! Starting with a sample of their delicious ciders and then setting up at the campsite was a great way to experience the farm. Val was a gracious host, and was so accommodating. The scenery and seclusion was a welcome respite from the fast pace of everyday life, we can't wait to plan our next trip!
The cider was delicious! Val was super friendly and welcoming! The animals were all adorable and super friendly as-well! There were piglets and we were able to feed some lambs!! The tent we stayed in was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. There were extra blankets in case you need them which was awesome since it got cold after dark. Would definitely book here again! Amazing experience!!
Val is an exceptional host. Right from the start she was very communicative. We had an extra guest and there was no issue accommodating the extra person. She provided very clear instructions with how to get to the site and what to expect. At arrival, we were provided with complementary cider on their patio, which was very welcomed. Val gave a great orientation and showed us around the spaces and we got to meet and interact with some of the livestock. Nellie the family dog greeted us and at some point during our stay we met Jack the cat.
I booked the Sunrise Suite and Orchard Oasis and they are both beautifully furnished! Despite being a cool 10C evening/morning, we had a good sleep on a comfortable mattress with sheets and extra blankets. By morning, we were toasty and didn't want to leave the comfort of the warmth. There are fire pits at both sites stocked with plenty of fire wood. Foldable chairs are also available for use to sit by the fire. An outdoor kitchen with a fridge, running water, and BBQ is available which made simple food preparation and cooking very accessible. Everything is close in proximity, including the outhouse.
If you enjoy animals, I highly recommend this farm stay experience because you are surrounded by beautiful animals and if you are so inclined, you can assist Val with some of the farm chores too and learn more about the regenerative farming practices.
We absolutely loved our stay! Both Val and Brent were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we could ever need to make our stay enjoyable. When we arrived Brent poured us a flight of their various ciders and some home made salsa and chip. We were given a tour of the property and introduced to all the farm animals and baby piglets! Our tent was secluded and very homey with solar lights, a cute patio area and a fan inside the tent to help with circulation. The out house was close by and very clean with wipes, sanitizer and toilet paper supplied.
We were able to cook dinner and breakfast in the covered outdoor kitchen. It had a mini fridge, sink with running water, BBQ with side burner. All utensils, plates, cups, kettle, coffee press, and pans were provided. We even bought fresh burger patties and eggs from the farm store to enjoy !
We absolutely loved our stay and have already recommended it to our friends and families. Such a great spot only 40 minutes from the city. Great experience to be outdoors and surrounded by farm animals and nature.
