If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We picked the perfect time to stay at Heavener Runestone. The weather was beautiful, the trees were beautiful, and the park was very peaceful. There was a lot of activity during the day with hikers, but few overnight campers this time of year.
The site is very hilly and includes a pavilion with tables, which was great for our group. We had one tent with us and, while there was not a designated tent pad at this site like there are at others, we were able to find a relatively flat area to set the tent up.
The host was very helpful and responded to any questions within minutes. The listing stated that there was water available at this site, but the water was not working. The host offered solutions, including offering water hoses to assist us in tapping into the water at another campsite. Our camper was small with a small fresh water tank, so we were able to quickly fill our tank without the use of extra water hose, but I appreciated the effort to help resolve the issue. I believe they are in the process of fixing the water at this site.
We enjoyed our stay very much and it was a great ending to our camping adventures for the year.
Best sunset and camp host in ok!
This is our second visit to this same campsite and as usual it did not disappoint. It's quickly becoming our favorite place to stay in Oklahoma. The only complaint I have is that it isn't closer so we could visit more often. Amanda is always very helpful and friendly. This park is one of the best places to see a great sunset. We'll definitely be back.
Stunning views, helpful hosts, and beautiful trails. Check in was easy and smooth, the available options to rent or buy such as fire wood, a Viking game, bags of ice, or extension cords were available and very affordable. We will definitely be back to camp more as the weather gets cooler.
Heavener runestone is the bomb!
This campsite was awesome! Amanda was great! They are a non profit group keeping a former state park going. Has shower house and bathroom right next to the pavilion. We used that instead of our awning. We got great cell service through Verizon. Town is a 5 minute drive away. Heavener Runestone is something to check out! All in all 5 stars!
Quiet, dark and peaceful campsite!
Extremely friendly. We arrived later in the night, so I really appreciate the warm welcome. Camp is very quiet and dark. They offer a light at the camp site which is really nice at night. The stars are amazing. We only stayed to sleep before leaving early but it seemed like there were a lot of cool paths you can explore. The gift shop was awesome. Bathroom and shower were pretty well kept. My only complaint would be that we were surrounded by giant spiders everywhere we went, bathroom and shower included. They’re harmless if left alone, but I am afraid of spiders so it was a little scary to be in spider territory. Not the camps fault, if you’re afraid of spiders maybe don’t go camping lol
