The site was great & Mark even left some water for my use.
This was my 1st over night in a hammock and I will definitely be back!

Mark, the host was very nice in person and we actually had a good conversation on the second day. However, I was a bit frustrated leading up to arrival that communication was spotty. I had a few messages on the day of arrival go hours without reply. Which, unfortunately, was just the first hiccup of the trip.

The listing advertises that there is a portable toilet available, which I took to mean that a portable toilet (bucket toilet w/ gel) would be available to each site--with toilet paper or wipes. This has been the case with other Hipcamp sites I've visited. It was not the case this time. Of three campsites, one site had what looked like a nursing home style walker bed pan combo. My site had nothing. And only one site had a gel bucket toilet. When I messaged about this as I was frantically looking for my site's toilet, I was told, oh yeah your site doesn't have one. If I had planned on it that would have been fine but I hadn't packed tp and there was no good place away from the creek to dig a cat hole.

I also messaged about fire wood to see if any would be provided. I was told there would be wood provided and that I could gather whatever else I needed. The wood provided was little more than the leavings of a previous camp fire with a few twigs tossed on top. Not a huge deal but since i got in after dark it did mean that I had to stumble around in the woods at night looking for wood when I thought I might at least have one fire's worth of wood provided.

None of my critiques would have prevented me from happily camping here, had the listing and my communication with the host not caused me to be ill prepared. No bathroom? No wood? No problem! I can plan for that. But to say something is available and then it not be put me in a tough spot and significantly took away from my enjoyment.

The camp site was private, clean, and very easy to find. Has great hiking trails nearby ~ my favorite was Blackhand Nature Preserve. Mark was very accommodating and welcoming.

Convenient for travelers looking for an inexpensive, private camp in the deep woods not far from I70 near Zanesville. We put in our request the night before our stay, and received a confirmation from the host very quickly. Shortly after our arrival, Mark the host, came by and offered us a gallon of water, and lots of interesting info about the area. He was friendly and accommodating. The 10’x16’ tent platform, fire pit, table and chairs were nice amenities. The “shower”, and “toilet”, accurately described in previous reviews, not so much. The camp site is fairly close to the road as described in other reviews but screened by thick vegetation so we felt no compromise to our privacy. It was fun hearing turkeys gobble, and lots of other nature sounds. Thanks for the camp Mark!

This was a great spot for my dog and I to camp and explore. The river upstream was so beautiful and fun to play in.

We only stayed less than 12 hours and Mark still made an appearance and gave us a little history about the estate. We roamed around in the daytime and wished we had more time to stay. This place is huge and beautiful! It was raining cats and dogs and we were still able to light a subtle fire at the campsite. The over drop from the trees provided a sufficient amount of coverage where we didn't feel rained in on at all. It was a really pleasant stay during a night we initally thought might be difficult to camp.

For the price, this was exactly what we expected. It was an easy, quick stop with a flat place to put up our tent for the night. The free drinking water was great! Mark was very kind and respectful of social distancing guidelines. We were frustrated by how close we were to the road, and there were some VERY loud vehicles that drove through during the night. The campsite looked like it hadn’t been maintained in a while—shower curtain and pit toilet stall tattered—but it was free of any garbage from previous campers. As a word of warning, we got rained on very hard, and for the first campsite, trees to tie a tarp to for additional shelter were not very accessible to the best place to put a tent. However, for the price (which was a big motivator) I would still say that Mark offers a completely fair experience, and it suited our needs for the night.

Camp was pretty private. Needed to drive to Dillon State Park as it was not accessible by walking/traversing the stream near the property. Lots of poison ivy around the campsite with existing tent that could not be taken down.
