Beacon Hill Cabin is a beautiful Amish built log camping cabin surrounded by 100 acres of woods ready to be explored! We are just about a one hour drive from Columbus, Dayton or Lima Ohio.  The cabin is remote with solar power and a generator for A/C. (Generator and first gas fill up available for $10 in “extras” at checkout) the solar power will accommodate cell phone chargers and lights in the cabin. The generator will accommodate things like crockpots, blow dryers, A/C, fans.  If you need more gas, we will fill it for $10 or there is a gas station just up the street.

There is a port-a-potty that is conveniently located behind the cabin but out of view.  There is  also a foot pump sink for hand washing.

Heat- as the weather cools off please note that the use  of the  propane heater in the cabin can be purchased as an “extra” at checkout for $20.00 per night.

There is a queen size futon in the cabin and two queen size memory foam mattresses in the loft. (Limited head clearance but my 6’2” husband and I have slept there with no problem).  Please bring sleeping bags or sheets to sleep on and your favorite pillow.

You may cook over the grill at the fire pit, use the supplied roasting forks or there is a portable propane cooking unit in the cabin for your use.. Bring a 14.1 oz standard propane cylinder to use or we will provide one for $5.. (Purchase in “extras” at checkout). You will need to bring any needed pots, pans, cutlery etc.

You may collect firewood in the woods, bring your own or buy a bundle from us for $7.00 (see “extras” at checkout). Fires are only allowed in the provided fire ring.

A beautiful stocked pond is available for catch and release fishing as well as swimming. (No smoking or alcohol at the pond please) Bring your poles, bait (the blue gill love night crawlers 😋), rafts, and life jackets (under 10 must wear them) for some pond fun.

Hiking trails meander throughout the property where you are sure to see the abundant wildlife, wildflowers. and so many butterflies! There is a creek that winds through the property and several wetlands

Sit around the campfire, relax make dinner and s’mores! Enjoy the beautiful sounds and sights of nature and don’t forget to do some stargazing. Music is fine but please keep it to a reasonable volume.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are up to date on vaccinations, well mannered, house trained, don’t “mark” their territory (inside), don’t wander and are under your control at all times.  No more than two please.   Please let us know in advance if you are bringing dogs.

Nearby attractions include Indian Lake State Park, Marmon Valley Farm, (guided horseback rides and farm fun), Ohio Caverns, Marie’s Candies, Mad River Mountain Ski resort. and the Simon Kenton bike trail.

Check in is anytime after 3:00 but before dark please.

We have decided to not rent the cabin during the winter months due to the high cost of heating as well as the challenges of getting to the cabin in bad weather.  If the winter turns out to be mild, we may open some days so check back if interested.

There are many wonderful restaurants in Bellefontaine including Sweet Aromas coffee shop, 2G’s BBQ, Brewfontaine (delicious Panini’s) .  Don’s Downtown Diner (best burgers around!) 600 Downtown pizza (Award winning and amazing!) and Kiyomi Sushi Steak house.  City Sweets and Whits have the best ice cream around.

****Please read and understand our rules and safety section as well as our property description and amenities before booking.****

****All “extras” (generator use, firewood, propane cylinder, propane heater) can also be purchased onsite if you decide you want them.  Cash only please!***

Thank you for booking, we know you will love it here!

**Please note** The Cabin is secluded and very private. The pond however is used by family and friends so you may or may not have it to yourself.  It is not right at the cabin but a short walk or drive away.

We found this place last minute because our other site was rained out. Sara and Mark was very accommodating. The cabin was very beautiful and secluded. The property was something out of a book. We loved it. The dogs loved playing in the stream and running around the site. I would give this place a 10 out of 10. We will be back.

Beacon Hill camp was adorable and our host went above and beyond at every turn to be helpful. We should have stayed for three days because there was a lot more we didn’t get to do. But we plan to make it an annual visit. My kids loved playing cards, making s’mores and only one wanted to be on her phone. I admit listening to a podcast( you do get cell reception) but in general you are away from everyone and everything unless you drive over to use Sara’s lake. She generously shared her beach and toys to access the lake. She even gave us salt and pepper when we forgot ours.
