Tucked away in a quiet valley, accessed only by winding roads helped us feel isolated. The constant rushing of the waterfalls and the gentle smell of moss, dirt and autumn leaves was like stepping into a meditation that lasted for days. It was such a lovely respite for our family. Our dogs (and my bare feet) loved the thick moss.
Our campsite had great trees for a hammock, a mossy cushion for our tent and a well-kept fire pit within easy reach.
You don't even need to leave the camp ground to find adventure. There's a nice trail to explore up a waterfall and walkways throughout the camp.

A few things to note :
The compost toilet was a new experience! For us, people used to primal camping, it was a nice touch. It's a toilet area though, so don't expect anything fancy. It's a bucket with mulch in a sports pop-up tent. It does not smell - which we were surprised at - and, the toilet area, is kept clean. Beware of the worlds biggest camel cricket in here though! While it spooked me with a surprise visit, it was neat to see such a large one.

Some campsites have more privacy than others.

Except for at the group site, there isn't a ton of space for parking if many of the campsites are rented out. (We were the only people at these campsites for the majority of our stay).

The drive in was slightly confusing - once you get to the map and take a picture of it. If you keep in mind that there are several Private Drives not listed on the map, you'll get there just fine. We had to turn around once but, it was well worth it since we saw a mother bear and her two cubs down our wrong turn road!

Make sure to note that you will be locked in during your stay. There's a lock that you can use to get in and out, however.

There is ZERO cell reception - except for with Verizon.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and would love to come back!

Waterfall Haven was fantastic! Its very close to everything we wanted to do/see. The creek next to the campsite was beautiful and we enjoyed going to sleep with the sound of the creek next to us. We will definitely be going back!

Indigo Eagle was a wonderful campsite. Beautiful views and awesome waterfall right next to campsite. My friends and I took a couples trip & hiked up to the top of the waterfall then back down, it was the highlight of our trip. Made an awesome campfire and great weather in September for sleeping all night. Very cool and fall like. Awesome trip won’t forget it!

First of all I do agree with other reviewers it was confusing getting down, but once you go back up and down a couple of times you get used to it. So don’t let that scare you! We would go back up to catch sunset on the blue ridge pkwy and come back while it was dark. We set up cafe lights so that it wouldn’t be so dark when we got back. Once down at the waterfall haven you’ll have a handful of sights to choose from. We had an SUV with a roof top tent so we parked by site 7 and set up our bathroom on the actual site and a stake to hook up the dogs (they loved it). There were multiple streams running throughout the site, it was quite peaceful. Would definitely stay again.
