Come experience our beautiful, brand new canvas Tipi on our private mountain top!

Enjoy the incredible views of the Great Smoky Mountains, with amazing sunsets, while enjoying our swing-bench and fire pit lounge. There is truly a peaceful feeling up here, as you watch the birds gliding in the sky and at night you will feel as if you could touch the stars.

The drive all the way up to the site is pretty steep and may be hard for some small cars, there is space for two cars to park at the bottom if needed, with a short, steep walk up (less than 200 yards total).

The tipi offers two cots and a couch or room for two queen size air mattresses. Bring your own bedding. Additional campers may set up extra tents. (Site will accommodate up to 2-3 extra tents.) A rustic but environmentally friendly and clean outhouse with a composting toilet is located on site. The site has a large fire pit and an outdoor charcoal grill for cooking. Wood and charcoal need to be provided by the guest or we can provide it for an additional fee.

Interested in exploring? Or interested in cooling off and cleaning up? Follow our map into our waterfall-filled valley (approx. a 2 mile drive from Tipi Site) in the valley you can take natural shower with spring fed waterfalls or a cool dip in the creek at our private Indigo Eagle Water Falls.  The valley offers other hiking trails featuring more waterfalls, picnic areas and relaxing forest environment.

Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation and Maggie Valley,  a quaint mountain town with shops, food, and entertainment.

I can't say enough about the view here, I think I took a picture every 5 minutes! It was the highlight of our trip for me. My husband, dog and I enjoyed the space, quiet and privacy of this camping spot. Sleeping in the tipi on the the cots and couch were comfortable. We brought everything we normally do for car camping and had a great time, would definitely return!

Excellent experience! In the tipi, it’s like sleeping in the outdoors with “some” protection. Our dogs’ bed was positioned in the middle but the rain came and everything in the middle got soaked (we stayed dry at the edges where our dogs joined us). The following night - we slept like a baby with the fresh air!
For those of you that are wondering: there is a large wooden table but not made to sit at - we used it to prep/cook our food. In the tipi there are two cots and a couch (very comfortable). We moved one of the cot and put in a queen air mattress for my elder mother. The “outhouse” is great to have - but bring extra toilet paper in a ziplock with hand sanitizer pump.
The swing makes a great place to sit snd enjoy the fire and the gorgeous view - especially in the evenings and every early mornings (with the fog & orange hue in the sky).
This was our second trip up at the top and it has become one of our favorite place. Definitely a must do trip with your family or even small group of friends!

The view was amazing but that was about the extent of the amazement…the view alone was hardly worth the money; we got the same visual for free at several different hiking spots throughout the mountains. We got there and it was not as the pictures suggest; it was not clean, it appeared run down and the amenities it states in the listing (compostable toilet, sweat lodge, waterfall to clean up) were not accessible or useable. Moreover, the firewood that was paid for and mentioned to be awaiting us at the campsite was not there and we had to track down individuals to get it. I was hugely let down because my husband and I were really looking forward to camping here. We are not “glampers” whatsoever and expected to be roughing it but this was not at all as advertised. You’d think that if you’re spending 300 bucks to camp somewhere that they would have at least enough decency and funds for that matter to make sure a compostable toilet was in working order, sweep the inner rug liner of teepee and plant some flowers for goodness sakes…to be honest, I kind of want my money back; I feel like I was robbed. It’s hard to stomach when someone lies to you and takes your hard earned money. I feel cheated… wouldn’t recommend.

Stunning views from Eagles Nest into GSMNP. We loved the campsite, as well as exploring the waterfall valley below. Great location minutes from Maggie Valley and the BRP. Already looking forward to our next visit.

This was the most beautiful camping trip I've ever taken, and the most rugged. It's not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced camper. My two wheel drive mini van made it up to the lower level of eagle's nest and we walked up from there. It's very close to Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherokee. It was wonderful. The most fantastic view in the mountains.

This place was truly a hidden gem! My best friend and I stayed in the Eagles Nest Tipi for my 40th birthday celebration. The location was stupendous, the host was amazing and made sure if we needed something we got it! We lucked out and the weather was absolutely perfect! We woke up in the morning to the sun shining on our campsite providing us with just enough warmth to enjoy our coffee while we took in the best view of the Smokies I saw during our entire trip. Balsam (Camp host with four legs :) and I became quick friends, she was the sweetest dog and would just come say hello every once in awhile. We ventured down to the bottoms where there were several different hiking trails that would take you to multiple beautiful waterfalls. There were also several campsites at the bottom that we hope to stay in as well at some point. Overall the experience was well more than we ever expected and we cannot wait to return!

We booked the top Eagle's Nest Tipi and site just below to ensure privacy. Our group also made the trip down the mountain to the creak and waterfalls at the Waterfall Haven Camping sites. First, the directions provided were on point: Driving to the top sites in Eagles Nest was
easy, done by some in our group with 2WD; The trip down to the waterfalls at the base of the mountain was on rougher roads, as described, driven slowly w/o issue in AWD, 4WD and 2WD vehicles. Will definitely recommend to others and book again if we are in the area.

The Tipi sites had amazing, open views but still provided privacy if you purchase both spots. The river camp sites were a hidden gem with waterholes and fishing spots and with hikes to waterfalls as advertised.

Note: If tent camping at the site just below the Tipi, I recommend bringing ground-cover/footprint as some of the better spots have gravel.
