The Wild Rose site is one of the sunniest locations on the farm and located in it's own 2 acre field.

A fire ring, picnic table and some wood for your first fire will be waiting for you. From the front of the site you can see one side of our market garden. Depending on the season you will see tulips, beets and onions sprouting, tomatoes climbing up their trellis, melons soaking up the sun or corn and sunflowers waving in the wind. The bees from our colorful hives will be busy pollinating the crops and gathering nectar.

Off to the left and tucked into the trees are our two chicken coops. Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm.

Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh seasonal fruit still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! Most weekends we offer a breakfast basket full of goodies from our farm and other local growers.

Right from your site you can walk down into our lush forest.  Follow the mowed path behind the site to the bush wack trail or feel free to wander our woods. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you follow the marked bush wack trail you will be guided over fallen trees and through breaks in the historic rock walls then, across the creek and up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride.

We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive.  The NYS Thruway is a less than 10 minute drive away if you are travelling through.

The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets.

PLEASE NOTE:

-We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods.  There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass.  We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you.  That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat.  Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land.

-The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DOhave roosters and you WILL hear them.

-There are wild animals around the farm.  You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite.  We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance!

-On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

Our stay at Wild Rose was all we hoped it would be. The other two sites on top of the hill were booked that night, and while we did see the other campers and occasionally hear them, it wasn't terribly disruptive. We looked at the other sites on our way out, and thought that Wild Rose is definitely the best out of all! The mowed circle within the tall wildflower field felt so private and special, not to mention aesthetically pleasing! We also really enjoyed the Chicken Experience, and what a treat it was to pet them and learn about the farm from Kara. I appreciated the starter firewood, and the convenience of being able to purchase more whenever we wanted ($10 for a small bundle, $20 for a large). I would recommend bringing bug spray or other mosquito repellent and a shade canopy or hats and sunscreen. The fire pit doesn't have a grate, so you will need to bring your own stove or be prepared with a heat-resistant mitt to grab your cast iron pan out of the fire. There is occasional road noise and train noise, as well as rooster and wildlife noise, as could be expected. All in all, a delightful stay that felt secluded and private, with things to do and a delightful host that clearly takes pride in her farm. Thank you, Kara and Oreo the hen--I wish we had been able to stay longer!

This was a great open space to spend a few nights. Our dogs were happy getting to the rail trail. Well thought out space with room to roam, but close enough to town for amenities. We will probably return on our way back down south. There is room for a larger rig, but take it wide on the turn and drive slow up the driveway.

Kara was really communicative and let us check in a few hours early to keep our itinerary smooth. The campsite was nice, felt private, a short walk to the outhouse or a trail. The trail looked like it could be a little clearer, didn't make it very far with the bugs (to be expected on rainy late summer upstate days). We were able to get a fire going and slept super well.

The breakfast basket was such a fun unique addition to the site and I’m truly so impressed by all that Kara does to ensure her guests have a great stay. Will be recommending to others absolutely.

lovely thoughtful site - felt super private even though the other campsites on the property were also occupied when I stayed. Kara left info about their farm and maps of the neighboring area which was fun to check out.
