The Wild Rose site is one of the sunniest locations on the farm and located in it's own 2 acre field.

A fire ring and picnic table will be waiting for you. From the front of the site you can see one side of our market garden. Depending on the season you will see tulips, beets and onions sprouting, tomatoes climbing up their trellis, melons soaking up the sun or corn and sunflowers waving in the wind. The bees from our colorful hives will be busy pollinating the crops and gathering nectar.

Off to the left and tucked into the trees are our chicken coops. Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm.

Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh seasonal fruit still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! We offer a breakfast basket full of goodies from our farm and other local growers.

Right from your site you can walk down into our lush forest.  Follow the mowed path behind the site to the bush wack trail or feel free to wander our woods. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you cross the creek and head up the steep hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride.

We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive.  The NYS Thruway is a less than 10 minute drive away if you are travelling through.

The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets.

-We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods.  There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass.  We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you.  That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat.  Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land.

-The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them.

-There are wild animals around the farm.  You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite.  We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance!

-On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

We were excited to stay at this location because it seemed so welcoming with the extras provided. However, with the $25 basket we got a loaf of bread, small 4oz jar of honey, dozen eggs (that go for $7 on their own), two sad pieces of lettuce, and two very small tomatoes. There was construction going on very close to us until 11pm at night with drills and hammers on the campground. Paid $15 for fire wood, but there was water at the bottom of the tarp making half of it unusable. Very very aggressive cat that kept getting into our stuff, car while packing, tent while trying to clean up, tried eating the food in the basket, and even managed to steal food while we were cooking. No way to get it to leave us be. Really not at all what I was expecting from $100 campground booking.

I'm very sorry that we weren't what you were expecting. We make take great pride in keeping our photos updated and our listing accurate. As my husband told you as he was guiding you to your site around 9pm, we were doing emergency repairs to a critical part of the farm infrastructure that couldn't wait until morning. I know you were on a road trip but if you are ever back in the area I'd be happy to provide you with a complementary armload of dry firewood and some more of our kale and heirloom tomatoes.

Stony Rose Farm campsite is wonderful. Definatelymorder the breakfast basket of wggs and honey! We made the
most delicpiuus omlette with the eggs, and enjoyed the homemade organic loaf of bread. Kara was very responsive to messages..Especially the evening we arrived in our campervan, and I wasn't sure if I could drive up the fairly steep gravel road. I did and it was fine! It's a wonderfully peaceful place. We loved being woken y the cockrel and saying hello to the chickens and the friendl cat said hello to us as well!

My husband and I recently stayed at Stonyrose. We are new RVers and this was our first time staying at a HipCamp. We had such a wonderful experience!!! This place is gorgeous and Kara and her family were the most gracious hosts. I can’t imagine finding a better stay than this one! Unfortunately due to a work issue, we had to leave earlier than expected. Kara went out of her way to ensure we still got our chicken experience (which was so fun- definitely add that to you visit!) and all the extras we requested. It was a short stay but definitely an impressionable one and we will most certainly be returning again in the spring! I think this trip may have spoiled us- it's going to be hard for future HipCamp stays to live up to this one!

We had a great time camping on Kara’s land. 10/10 spot for star gazing! They also had chickens, roosters, a turkey, and a cat we’d occasionally visit. Thanks for having us!
