From your bed you will hear the roosters crow and feel the sun warming the day...

A fire ring and picnic table will be waiting for you. From the front of the site you can see one side of our market garden. Depending on the season you will see tulips, beets and onions sprouting, tomatoes climbing up their trellis, melons soaking up the sun or corn and sunflowers waving in the wind. The bees from our colorful hives will be busy pollinating the crops and gathering nectar.

Tucked into the trees are our chicken coops. Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm.  The shady portion near your campsite offers close views of our coops.  While our feathered friends free range during the week we usually keep them contained to their runs and coops during the busier weekend.

If you pass by the chicken coops and head Southeast you can walk down into our lush forest.  If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls.  There is a marked bush wack trail to help guide you on a ramble over fallen trees and between breaks in the historic stone walls to the O&W Rail Trail or feel free to wander our woods. If you cross the creek and walk up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride.

Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh melons and berries still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley!   We offer a breakfast basket filled with goodies from our farm and other local growers.

We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive. The NYS Thruway is less than 10 minutes away if you are travelling through.

The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets.

-We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods.  There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass.  We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you.  That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat.  Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land.

-The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them.

-There are wild animals around the farm.  You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite.  We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance!

-On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

Awesome camping spot in the heart of Hudson Valley! This was our first Hipcamp experience and it couldn't have been easier. Kara gave great directions and was very accommodating with our schedule. My husband and I stayed two nights in our travel trailer. There were plenty of flat areas to park and tons of room to maneuver. We had fun walking the property and really appreciated that they had firewood onsite for sale. There was an outhouse, but we never used it. There are lots of great little towns in either direction, so it's easy to get supplies. We're definitely hooked on Hipcamp now!

The location was excellent. We had a very comfortable stay and spent all day outside enjoying the farm. Host was timely with responses and even recommended a swimming location not too far from the campsite that we enjoyed very much.

What a great hip camp site. I would highly recommend. Private, well organized, clean, campsite. Easy to get to and in biking distance to the o&w trail along with hiking in mohonk, minnewaska, catskills, and woodstock. Kara was a wonderful host. Highly recommend the welcome basket as the organic eggs, honey, bread, and tomato's were deliscious. Everything was on site along with firewood that can be purchased. They have a wonderful chicken excursion which allows a tour of the chicken coop and their friendly egg laying chickens and their wonderful working cat Frankie. All were so friendly and can be pet. Learned a lot and highly recommend if you have kids. They would love it. Kara was full of knowledge on the area, tips, and speaking about the farm. The camp site was wonderful. Large easy to set up and walkable to the outhouse. Would definitely be back.

Very nice piece of property! Kara was a great host! She stopped by to check in on us and dropped off a dozen eggs(purchased) which were really worth it! All the information/signs on sites were clear and welcoming. The sites are far enough apart to offer privacy and have plenty of room to setup. The Rose Comb Rooster site in particular is also great for astrophotography, we got some great photos of the sky here!

We loved our site to park our campervan! Kara laid out firewood and we had a picnic table to ourselves which was perfect for breakfasts in the morning. Loved the wide open space, felt like our own private piece of land.

The whole farm is perfect for a family or solo camping experience. The sites are spacious and private and all have access to a very clean pit toilet. Kara is so knowledgeable and friendly. The location is ideal whether you're a climber, kayaker, or hiker! Thanks for such a great place to stay, we will definitely be back!

I did an overnight stay on Kara's land, traveling there by bike from Brooklyn. If you're into (or interested) in bikecamping: I took the train to Poughkeepsie, and from there was able to take rail trails most of the way to Stony Rose Farms (Walkway over the Hudson > Wallkill Rail Trail > O&W Rail Trail), which was great. The O&W actually runs through Kara's property (or just behind it), but it was tricky to find without a clear path, so I entered/exited the farm via 209. Kara was a super communicative and accommodating host. The site itself was fairly bare-bones—a clearing surrounded by grass and bordered by trees, with a picnic table, fire pit, and grill—but was great for stargazing at night. The compost toilet was clean and comfortable. You could hear 209 very minimally, but I didn't find that bothersome. If I were to stay at SR Farm again, I would opt for the site closest to 209, nestled in the forest (I got a view of it as I entered and left the farm). Thanks again for everything, Kara!
