The Rose Quartz site is at the back end of the field area of the farm. It offers both privacy and the best views of the ridge across the beautiful Hurley Flats.

A stone fire ring, picnic table and some wood for your first fire will be waiting for you. From the front of the site you can see our market garden. Depending on the season you will see tulips, beets and onions sprouting, tomatoes climbing up their trellis, melons soaking up the sun or corn and sunflowers waving in the wind. The bees from our colorful hives will be busy pollinating the crops and gathering nectar.

Off to the left and tucked into the trees are our two chicken coops.  Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm.

Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh melons and berries still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! Most weekends a breakfast basket full of our produce and goodies from other local growers is available.

From your site you can walk down into our lush forest. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you follow the marked bushwack trail you will be guided over fallen trees and through breaks in historic stone walls then, across the creek and up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride.

We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive.  The NYS Thruway is less than 10 minutes away if you are travelling through.

The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets.

PLEASE NOTE:

-We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods.  There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass.  We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you.  That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat.  Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land.

-The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them.

-There are wild animals around the farm.  You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite.  We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance!

-On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

Stony Rose Farms is an amazing place to stay. The site was so peaceful and one of the best nights sleep I’ve gotten in awhile! The trails are a nice way to wear out a dog with extra energy from traveling, and the fairy garden is adorable. Kara is so nice and I highly recommend the chicken experience to really get to know more about the farm and Kara and her family.

I will go out of my way to stay here again for sure!

The birds and butterflies during the day, the roosters crowing, the stars at night, and an owl hooting in the dark is what made it for me.
I liked having the seclusion and reconnecting with nature. I will say there is no shady areas. It felt like full sun the entire time.
Beautiful farm in the Hudson Valley!

Mackensey, Thank you for the great review! There is a shady little nook down the path at the back of the Rose Quartz site. It's large enough for a small tent, or some prefer to set up a hammock there. Hopefully next time you visit you can enjoy that shady area and get out of the sun. ~Kara

Stony Rose Farms is a great set up and so happy to have had the chance to stay here with my niece! It was a unique experience for her - Kara and her kids were kind enough to show us their chickens and let my niece pet one. Kara was wonderful, easy to get in touch with/returned messages quickly and made things very convenient for our needs - so appreciated!

Nice rustic campsite on a farm, host was very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. There’s a wooden table/bench on site with a firepit. The site is open mowed down grassland. It’s close to edge of the woods if looking for some shade.
The farm is located near Kingston, and Marbletown. My kids enjoyed exploring the premise and seeing the chicken coop. We also drove out and explored nearby local attractions such as the Steiff teddy bear museum.
