Mustang Valley is a spectacular little piece of paradise. Nestled in the valley on 140 acrs. Pitch your tent next to the creek with beautiful swimming hole and fishing. 5 minute walk to barn. Surrounded by Horses, domestic and wild, goats, and chickens. Kayaks and paddle boards available. very large secluded pond for a paddle. Miles of trails. Ranch is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains right on the Schoharie creek. The creek runs like a river and is perfect for swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, or just floating in a tube. Each site is private and has its own personality, some are by the creek, some are under the cliff, one is way out by the pond. The pond camp is a bit of a hike and is very secluded. Perfect for those that like to hoof it. We provide off grid shower and toilet at your site. The horses are generally out and about during the day and you may interact if they choose to come near you. You can also book a mustang encounter, or a farm tour which includes introduction to all the furry family members. We respectfully request that you wear masks when coming near the community area or any other people as we are not quite out of the woods yet with this pandemic. We will do our best to keep things sanitary and disinfected. Sites 1,2,3 and 4 have direct river access with their own beaches. Sites 5 and 6 are wooded camps on platforms, with access to our community beach. You can drive to these if you have a vehicle that is 4 wheel drive. Site 7 is at the pond. Site 9 is on top of the property and is very secluded but closer to the road you can drive to this one as well.

I love mustang ranch
I loved my stay! The horses and land are exquisite. Mary the owner is a love! She is so helpful. Campsite 4 is magic! It is secluded and has a beautiful creek / river running through. The overall experience was everything I could have asked for. Mary rescues not only horses but goats and other wildlife. It was heart opening to witness her devotion and care for the animals and her guests. Campsite 4 is awesome!
This was our second visit to mustang valley sanctuary and we had a wonderful time again. Mary is a friendly, thoughtful, and welcoming host. We stayed at site 1 this time and loved being right next to the creek. The space is beautiful and Mary has plans to continue to improve it in the future. I can’t recommend staying here enough!
Must stay here!!! we'll be back :)
Mustang Vallery Ranch is THE BEST Hip Camp! We visited here last year during the pandemic, and had to make a trip back this year. I was so pleasantly surprised to see everyone from before AND MORE! Mary is the most amazing host with the sweetest heart. Her space is so unique and beautiful, and where else are you gonna become best friends with a goat??
MAKE THE TRIP & SUPPORT THE MUSTANGS!
The ranch was lovely and the sites were nice and private since weren't a lot of people there. Mary was very nice and allowed us to switch to a tent platform from a ground camp site since the weather looked really rainy. We would have loved to enjoy the river and boats more but the weather didn't allow it, and we had a great time regardless.
My fiancé and I stayed at Mary's wonderful property for a weekend and we had an awesome time. She has so much space, absolutely gorgeous animals, and was a really great host. We loved petting all the goats and getting a tour of the space while meeting all the horses. We can't wait to go back!
We camped a couple weeks ago at campsite 9. Mary was a great. The site was clean and my kids love the farm. The horses was so friendly. The only cons was the campsite 9 is near the road which you can hear the vehicles passing by.
I didn’t want to leave!
Mary, the majestic mustangs, the adorable goats, and everyone and everything else involve provided one of the nicest, most peaceful resetting experiences I’ve had in a very long time. The campsite itself was spacious and serene, and even though we arrived a bit on the late side, one of the volunteers was nice enough to greet us and help bring all of our stuff from my van to the campsite in a wagon. Mary was nothing less than a wonderful and gracious host, providing a wealth of knowledge of these beautiful animals. I would absolutely HIGHLY recommend the wild mustang encounter!! I have never experienced something like this in my life. To have an up-close and intimate experience with a wild animal like this, and to watch a bond of trust develop between myself and the mustang was one of the most incredible experiences ever. A weekend did not feel like nearly enough time spent here, so I will DEFINITELY be returning soon!
Camping with horses
Mary is a great host, and her employee Blake was present & helpful in every way. It's a beautiful farm with rescued Mustangs, and a herd of friendly & curious goats. So much fun to wander around the property, including some nice trails to a pond with beavers and along the Schoharie Creek. We asked ahead for firewood, and Mary had a generous pile waiting for us at the site when we arrived.
A few things to know: We chose site 9 because it's listed as the only site accessible with our car. We liked that it was the most wooded of the sites and very quiet (close to the road, but there's very little traffic). However, it's also the smallest, least developed site. It was a little tricky to clear space for 2 small tents. Next time, I would probably choose one of the other sites, as Blake & Mary are ready and willing to bring supplies from the parking area near the barn to each tent site. The other sites are all spacious and clean, with room for a privacy tent (supplied by Mary) for the toilet & shower. Do know that that the shower & toilet are RUSTIC! It's a backpacking shower (5-gallon bucket with hand pump and shower head) and a bucket toilet. Some of the sites have a small yurt (large canvas tent) already set up on a platform, which is nice if you don't feel like setting up your own tent. All of the sites have a fire pit & chairs; some have a small table, too. There's water available in the barn area (delicious fresh spring water that Mary brings in); she'll let you borrow a jug for carrying the water to your site, but if there are several in your party you probably want to bring an extra jug or two so you don't have to go back to refill it too often.
All in all, I loved our stay at Mustang Valley Ranch. Mary's work with the horses is inspiring! Camping on her property is not only a fun experience in its own right but a way to help her rescue these magnificent animals!
