Sheila and Bob are wonderful hosts! The property was fun to explore. Each site is lovingly set up; we took our Class C 20 ft RV. There was a gorgeous fire ring and picnic table and a classy privy 😊
Awesome stay; 10/10 would recommend
We LOVED staying at Adirondack Vacation Base. Shelia and Bob's property is over 50 acres and just a short drive to Saranac Lake. Within 20 minutes you can get to the Azure Mountain Fire Tower and an easy hour drive through Lake Placid to the high peaks.
Our campsite was private and tucked away in the woods. The site included a fire pit, plenty of fire wood (and you can purchase more from the office), and a picnic table. It's pack it out, so be prepared. The outhouse and potable water is just a short walk down the road (and it was one of the nicest outhouses I have ever used).
The property is huge and Bob and Shelia are wonderful hosts. They gave us awesome trail recommendations, trail maps, and were genuinely interested in hearing about our adventures.
Only cons: the site was a little tight for our 18" camper van which made parking a bit challenging (but I believe Bob is removing the tree stumps that made this a tough maneuver). Also, the mosquitos (while absolutely expected) are pretty bad since you're in the woods, so be prepared!
