Situated on the Barwon River just 5km outside of Walgett, Muddy Waters is a Fisherman’s dream... Enjoy direct river access and try your luck at the seasonal bounty of Murray Cod, Golden Perch (yellow-belly) and huge blue crayfish!

Quiet and tranquil, with native birds abundant, set up camp by our Billabong, underneath the Coolabah trees. Around 500 mtrs from the river. Accessible for all vehicles and rigs. No amenities, so campers must be self-contained and leave no trace.

Walgett has a rich Indigenous and agricultural history, with significant sites located nearby. Walgett means “where two rivers meet” and Muddy Waters is less than 1km by boat from the junction of the Namoi and Barwon River. Set up base here and do daily tours at your own leisure. Brewarrina Fish Traps are 130km west & Lightning Ridge & Grawin/Glengarry Opal Fields situated 70km north. Enjoy a soak in a number of artesian bore baths in the shire like the often overlooked and quieter one in Walgett.

Dogs welcome but kept on a lead and under control as we have farm animals and dogs.

What a great little place to camp.
We ended up camped by the river which was rising for 3 nights and it was just so peaceful and quite.
Luke and Carolyn were great hosts and made us feel extremely welcome.
Highly recommended

We didn't quite make it due to an error of judgement on my part, sticking in the black mud 300 metres short, stayed the night on the mud. Luke and Carolyn, along with Ben from the NRMA were superb in their support and we managed to get out the next day. We were quite safe and comfortable in our van where we remained for the 16 hours.

We enjoyed our (overnight) stay at Muddy Waters. Luke was a wonderful host and it was a lovely spot.

We really enjoyed our time here. The campsite is just outside of Walgett which is quite a nice little town. They have a couple of very good coffee shops. We used muddy waters as a base for lightning ridge and grawin, and it really felt nice to come home to. We were close to other campers but everyone was really lovely. It felt very safe and the hosts are lovely. I would stay her again for sure

Perfectly peaceful. I expected a little more interaction with the host, but we did not seek the interaction so still great.
